Steph Curry skips practice, but says he'll play Game 2 against the Rockets

An ankle injury forced Stephen Curry to play just under 20 minutes in Golden State's blowout Game 1 win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Curry was rolling, hitting five three-pointers and scoring 24 points before injuring his right ankle in the second quarter. He left the game, got his ankle taped up and came back to start the second half. However, after playing three minutes in the third, Curry left the game to get his ankle taped once more, only this time he didn't return.

Not wanting to risk Curry further injuring his ankle, Warriors coach Steve Kerr opted to keep his superstar on the bench for the rest of the game. Curry was available to play though, but with the Warriors routing the Rockets, he wasn't truly needed. Despite his ankle injury, Curry does want to play in Game 2.

"Right now I don't see a scenario where I'll be out," said Curry. "Obviously, if it's not right and at risk of further injury or whatnot, that's the only thing that I think we have to worry about. Pain tolerance and all that stuff, I kind of know what I can deal with on the court, but you don't want anything more serious to happen favoring an ankle or whatnot. So that's what we'll pay attention to the next few days."

Even though he says he's fine, Curry's long-term health is crucial to Golden State's goal to repeat as champions. Which is why the Warriors are being cautious with Curry and had him undergo treament instead of practicing on Sunday.
