Angel Reese Asks For Prayers On Sunday Night

It's been a tough start to the 2025 WNBA regular season for Angel Reese.

Reese, 23, had a strong rookie season. She averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds per game for the Chicago Sky. Reese, who was a first round pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, starred collegiately at LSU and Maryland. Behind Caitlin Clark, she's probably the most popular player from the 2024 rookie class.

However, it's been a rough start to the year for Reese. The Sky are one of the worst teams in the league and Reese's stats are rough. Reese is averaging 9 points and 12 rebounds per game, while shooting roughly 30 percent from the field.

Sunday night, Reese took to X, formerly known as Twitter, asking for prayers. It's unclear what's going on.

for the people in LA and across the country fighting against ICE and Trump. No, I won’t pray for you to play better.

Not only isn't it better, but she's going to set a league record for self-rebounds.

"In 2025, she’s averaging 14.0 rebounds per game, with 6 self-rebounds in the first two games, projecting to about 100 for the season. Her 2024 record of 50 self-rebounds led the WNBA, showing it’s a skill, though critics argue it reflects her .310 shooting percentage.”

She was noisy before she played a minute.
Declared that the WNBA surge was about all the new players.
Now, it's about prayers?
And, I don't want to hear "We don't know what she's going through."
There are 450 NBA players. It is near impossible that NONE of them aren't going through something tough.
Should everyone pray for them, too. No, we don't because we don't have NBA players asking for them.

A lot of right wing who barely paid attention to women's basketball before all this are in Caitlin Clark's corner and hate on Angel Reese. She was one of the best rookies last year and would have been the best if she wasn't in Clark's draft class even though she wasn't drafted in the top 5. She and the team may be struggling but the WNBA has had great teams and players long before either of them showed up. I also don't think Clark is anything like the MAGA fan base but I don't think Angel Reese deserves the hate she receives from them.
