Mission Statement

The Healthcare Justice March (HJM) strives to be a significant and powerful event to further the establishment expanded and improved Medicare for All in the United States.

Vision Statement

The Healthcare Justice March will be a unifying, catalytic demonstration on the National Mall that will:

Bring the masses together, regardless of their political affiliation, personal circumstances, or any other divisive demographics, to demand a tax-supported, fully comprehensive, non-discriminatory healthcare system for all residents of the U.S.

Raise awareness among our elected officials and the general public that a significant number of people need and want a single-payer healthcare system.
Gain media attention with which to continue to inform the public and push towards our goal.

Provide an opportunity for the truth to be told about single-payer, as well as about the frustrations, abuses, and destruction caused by the current system.

Motivate people to become activists for themselves and their loved ones, engage with their legislators, and refuse to be complacent.

Continue to build the single-payer movement after the event for as long as necessary to achieve true universal healthcare.

Partnership

Originating within the Drive for Universal Healthcare (DUH), we don’t want to “brand” the march as a DUH event, but rather, like the People’s Climate March, we want to encourage the participation of social justice groups of all kinds since the HJM will need a coalition in order to succeed. Volunteers willing to do computer programming and research, data entry, logistical coordination (such as gathering public transportation and parking information, securing medical providers licensed in DC for an emergency medical tent, managing volunteer clean-up crews for after the march, among others) and production assistance will be necessary. Mobilizing membership and raising money are also priorities of our partner organizations. We’ll be asking endorsing organizations to become partners, as well as soliciting partnerships from patient advocacy organizations, political groups and others. June 1 is the deadline we’re setting for having achieved a variety of benchmarks with partnering organizations.
