why do we still have so many frikkin' "Puritans" in this country? This "land of the free and home of the brave" is pretty much embarrassing nonsense. America is timid when it comes to changing with the times (marriage equality notwithstanding - that's a real anomoly). Much of the country has to be dragged kicking and screaming into the future.

Texas and Minnesota, for instance. They both now have medical marijuana on the books, but the laws are so restrictive, you have to be almost dead to use it. No flowers, only oil, and only for a very limited number of ailments.

As long as the GOP controls a state legislature, they will be slow to act. Even many Democrats are afraid of pushing too much for fear of the religious backlash.
