At one recent fundraiser, an attendee had to part with $300 to get in the door, $1500 in order to get "preferred seating," and almost double that to get a quick photo with the candidate. Sort of like the difference between sitting in the last row behind a pole at a concert, sitting further forward in the balcony with a slightly better view, and snagging a selfie with a member of the band from the front of the pit. Access is all about the size of one's wallet.
