Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumFunny thing happened at our Bernie meeting last night
First off it was great and we had a nice turnout for a Sunday when there was football on. We had the head of the local CWA speak and he was fired up. He made it a point to tell us how they came to support Bernie-a completely democratic process that asked people who they should support, and Bernie came out on top.
Anyway we had a nice little mingle session afterward and people spoke about how horrible Hillary's campaign was (people actually expressed their astonishment that she was behaving as though she didn't learn a damned thing from her disastrous 08 run), how horrid she was, and it sounded just like all the stuff we've been saying here. And just for shits and giggles, I asked people if they read that on Democratic Underground, seeing how the Hillary supporters are always banging on about how DU Bernie supporters live in a bubble. And apart from one person, nobody had even heard of Democratic Underground.
Pop goes the bubble.

No, really.

(1,090 posts)I'm stuck in a hotel in Gulfport but my wife will a delegate for our caucus again this year. all the pro Bernie stuff we've done nobody know about DU and if HRC is picked won't vote for her. I mean wow! when i ask them about "what you going to want a REthug win?" I get two responses 1. They don't see much difference and 2. it doesn't matter in Idaho anyways a Dem won't take the state. We did vote about 35% Obama though ( we do have some nice people).

(5,621 posts)it doesn't matter much, you will still struggle no matter who runs the country. People on DU who don't have to struggle or people like the Clintons, have no idea what it is like day to day. The sheer exhaustion of getting out of bed and facing another day when everything is stacked against you, is not helped or hindered by giving or taking away a small amount of money, it is still drudgery. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but the poor are used to having things taken away from them for no apparent reason, both Republicans and Democrats have done it to them.
Bernie is the only hope that even if you can't make it out of the life, your kids may be able to.

(5,621 posts)when women had fewer rights. Roe v Wade was back in the 70's. It is not even a thought process for many people. Even still, poor women have less rights and are abused more than women with money to do something about it. It is what it is, for poor people.

(3,557 posts)I live in New York. The dem nominee will almost surely carry my state by a wide margarine. If Hillary gets the nomination, I won't vote for her. I'll stay home or if I do vote it'll be for the Green Party.
Sanders is not the spoiler for the dems, Hillary will be the spoiler. People like me (and I know I'm not alone) will not vote at all rather than vote between any repub or Hillary.

Bernie's going to win, so we don't have to worry about that!
