But a poll taken last weekend suggests that interest in the former mayor and founder of his eponymous media conglomerate doesnt really change much based on the other participants.
Morning Consult found that in a national race involving Sanders, Trump and Bloomberg, Sanders would take 35% of the vote, Trump 34% and Bloomberg 12%.
In a race with Trump, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Bloomberg, Trump takes 36%, Clinton 35% and Bloomberg 13%. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Further complicating any calculus is the electoral college. If Bloomberg actually carried any state, it would make it difficult for any candidate to reach 270 votes needed to win the presidency, sending the presidential race to the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and the vice presidency to the GOP-held Senate.

(3,433 posts)My guess is that most people think of him as the nice man who used to be mayor of NY. His economic policies would probably come in line with establishment republican trickle down economics, and he would get more republican votes that Democratic.

(32,064 posts)is really afraid of Sanders or Clinton. Clinton would be helpful to him and slogans aside Sanders is really not a revolutionary. I think he (Bernie) would definitely raise taxes, reapportion resources a bit, close a few loopholes and the like, but with the money Bloomberg has he will barely feel it. What he and every other establishment republican are really afraid of is Trump. They're afraid this MF could actually win and take down the R party in the process.

(14,177 posts)He has stances that will alienate both liberals and conservatives even if a liberal doesn't like Hillary they will probably vote for her a conservative that doesn't like Trump will probably vote for him anyway. That leaves Independents who lean liberal now...I think they will vote for the Democratic nominee for the most part and some will vote for Trump, he might get 5% of the Independents and a few Republicans and fewer Democrats.
