2. Nevada is next. I read on DU a while back that Bernie's starting to make some inroads

towards getting more Latino supporters. Don't know how much of that is by virtue of his own efforts or just backlash to Clinton's "abuela" schtick.

3. SC has a huge AA population for democrats,

it's otherwise a deep red state. It's very important in terms of votes, there are lots of them. One of the problems with the early states (Iowa and New Hampshire) is that they don't represent the country as a whole. It's also said to be a real challenge for Bernie (I don't agree that it's a lock either way), so it makes sense SC the focus at the moment.

Not that NV isn't just as important, but it's reliably blue because its Latino population leans democrat (Cuban-Americans, not Latinos, are more conservative). That's my impression, anyway. But because Hispanics are not a monolithic bloc, dems shouldn't take them for granted either. Then again, the republicans are so revolting these days... I can see why it's easy to. I don't live out west anymore, how is Bernie doing with Latinos in general?

NV deserves equal attention for sure, I agree.

On edit: Also, SC has more delegates than NV (57 & 39).

4. If you want to talk about representative of the nation, you don't want to talk about SC.

You want to talk about Nevada. Its far closer than SC is.

8. SC is irrelevant in the general. The Republican will win it.

10. Well, you keep bouncing between general and primary

and you started with demographics are important but then they aren't. Then it was media focus, which isn't on SC anyway. It's kinda hard to follow.

15. Doesn't Nevada have a caucus system that's even worse than Iowa's was this year?

I seem to remember that voters have to go to the caucus during the day and then have a secret ballot election that same day. I may be totally misremembering because it sounds so totally off the wall. Does anyone know about this?

12. I did a out of state canvassing trip there MLK weekend

I found the people who were home were split about 50/50 for B & H.

Problem in area I was in Carson City, volunteers from out of state but only 2 local ones. Locals need to step up to the plate if they want him to win.

Maybe on campus in Reno they can find some volunteers or in Vegas area.

A lot of people were angry at system that failed them and not voting either side at all. Those were mostly in poor areas in rural part of town.

I want to help with NH as well. The time difference makes it kind of screwy though.

Bernie's campaign hired a popular Latina activist who apparently made a bee-line to Nevada. Her husband is

also an activist. Minus the bu-haw-haw with the unions in Vegas, the intention was to hit the ground ASAP to

build support in Latino community. Fairly big in Nevada and a lot of working class families who lost their shirts in

the housing crisis. So perhaps there may be a lot of resentment toward the establishment for making a lot of

people homeless and destroying lives. And if I remember correctly, Las Vegas was hit the hardest in terms of

foreclosures. Kinda knew someone in Vegas several years ago (around 2002-03), but lost contact. San

Bernadino also was hit hard. I fear he and his wife lost their home because he was scrapping by when I last

talked to his wife. Let us hope Bernie drives home the fact it was the Wall Street crowd responsible for

destroying peoples lives there in the housing crisis. I just have to believe that Las Vegas will not forget that

and be drawn to Bernie's message.
