Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumHillary's a smart lady... but somtimes, she says some realy stupid things...
If we stopped the TPP or keystone XL, Would that end racism? Would it end sexism?
If we stopped ISIS, Would that end racism? Would it end sexism?
If we extended social security benefits, Would that end racism? Would it end sexism?
Racism and Sexism must be addressed... but trying to make it a binary choice between solving those problems OR breaking up the big banks is absurd. We can do multiple things at once... we even have a word for it; multitasking!
Maybe she thought to herself; I could multitask...but would that end racism?
It sure as hell couldn't hurt!

(14,577 posts)Breaking up the big banks, as well as the other things Sanders has on his menu, particularly single payer, free college tuition, massive infrastructure repairs - these will all serve to remove much of the economic incentive for racism, yes.

A smart person would not have to spend their entire life evolving on issues that are obvious to most reasonable people.

(27,670 posts)the status quo oligarch establishment. Her Brand is "Change Without Change".
Changing by staying the same is the only way to end racism and sexism. We have absolutely no reason to break up these big banks that are impoverishing us, destroying democracy, and crushing our hopes and dreams, if doing so will not end racism and sexism. It is impossible to promote economic justice and social justice at the same time. Becuz, uh, well, um, the Hillary campaign says so. I think I saw it on TV, so it's gotta be true.
How can you people not understand this?

(36,988 posts)She was Smart on how she tried to pull the wool over the public's eye.. on that vote..... They both knew, Bill and Hillary that it was bogus....... Bill got top secret security briefings as an x prez.
Don't forget how Bill really started sluzzing around with the Bush family after he left office.

Can a person be smart, and not have heart?
Because at the end of the day, when we look at ourselves in the mirror...

(36,988 posts)in fact his IQ is very high. I think he's one of the most brilliant politician since the 80s. But that doesn't equate to morals nor ethics as we know from history.
Hillary? Well you need to ask yourself this question. Did she not know of Bill's womanizing? And then she slut slammed all of his accusers when it was rather documented by his Arkansas State police security detail.
Did she not know about Monica in the oval office and all around the whitehouse? Well according to her book he told her in her bedroom. and she said she didn't. Look at the timeline on that one to see if it holds water. Well talk about not knowing about 'a weapon of mass destruction'' she knew his history as she did know Bush was a lair too but that didn't matter either.
I find both of these people psychologically damaged. Bill is a poser with great charm that can read people's empathy but in the end its for his power and status as it is for her which is why they make a fascinating couple for study..

(27,670 posts)Nor does spending every waking moment of a lifetime questing for notoriety, power, and accumulating more stuff than anyone could use in 50 lifetimes, and harming people, etc, along the way, just to die the same as a sparrow at the end of it all.
It all just doesn't seem like it would be fun, or satisfying, or bring happiness to anyone. It could be that the cultural standard for Intelligence Quotient lacks in dimension(s). Not being smart enough to do all that kooky drama stuff, or figure these things out, I'm going to go lay out naked in the sun on this lovely day, ponder the meaning of Beauty, and hope someday soon we will democratically elect representatives who have the best interests of the people they serve at heart, and don't spend their entire existence engaged in shallow, silly, and lethal, intrigue and drama.
Here's an old saying from someone who may be smart, or may be just wise. (It's not directed at you, Ichingcarpenter).
"....Your people are driven by a terrible sense of deficiency. When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you cant eat money." Alanis Obamsawin

Eleanor Roosevelt.
People move forward into the future out of the way they comprehend the past. When we don't understand something in our past, we are therefore crippled.
Norman Mailer.
That being said
Go Bernie............. I think he's raising this country's consciousness and changing this nation's consciousness together which has been needed for a long time. He is only a channel for that voice we need to tell the nation and the planet.
Oh .......... and Bill should have inhaled, and Chelsea needs to turn on, tune in and drop out ........

(582 posts)ambitious and driven, and if you have a surplus of thatand she doesit can more than make up for actual acumen. It's like all those pop stars who can't really sing, but have huge-chart-topping careers simply because they're hyper-aggressive about marketing themselves.
Clinton's bad judgment in times of crisis is legendary, as is her spectacular inability to learn from her past mistakes, which is just one reason of many to suspect that she's actually not a genius.
