Tonite, Th. Feb.18: *CLINTON SANDERS TOWN HALL, LAS VEGAS, 9 PM ET MSNBC, Telemundo

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada state Democrats say presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will take part in a town hall event in Las Vegas on Feb. 18, two days before the state party caucus.

State Democratic Party Chairwoman Roberta Lange said in a statement that MSNBC and the Spanish-language television network Telemundo have agreed to host the evening event.

The event will be at the Lou Ruvo Brain Center’s “Keep Memory Alive” Event Center. It’s not a big room and the Review Journal newspaper says the general public cannot apply for tickets, suggesting the best way to check it out is to watch it on television starting at 6pm.

It’s scheduled to run for two hours and will also be *streamed on the tv channels’ web sites.
>Topics already submitted for discussion include: the economy, immigration reform and college affordability.

NEVADA DEMOCRATS PRESS RELEASE: The TOWN HALL will take place on the evening of Thursday, February 18 – *just two days before NEVADA'S "FIRST IN THE WEST" PRESIDENTIAL CAUCUS on Saturday, February 20.

“No other early state matches Nevada’s demographic and cultural diversity, and the Latino community makes up more than a quarter of our state’s population,” said Roberta Lange, Nevada State Democratic Party Chairwoman.

“Mobilizing Latino supporters will be absolutely critical for our Democratic presidential nominee to win in key Western battleground states like Nevada this November. While Republican candidates have repeatedly disrespected, dismissed, and insulted Latinos on the campaign trail, Democrats are working to address their goals and concerns on issues ranging from college affordability to immigration reform. We are looking forward to this important town hall discussion with our presidential candidates, with Telemundo and MSNBC as our broadcast partners.”

Nevada’s Democratic caucuses are on Saturday, February 20 at 11 a.m. PT. Democrats allow same-day voter registration at caucus locations, and any eligible voter who will be 18 years old by Election Day (November 8, 2016) can caucus. Eligible Nevada voters can now use the NV Dems website to pre-register for the caucus and find their precinct caucus location.

1. Let's bet on who gets the last word. Will it be the FRONT RUNNER, Bernie, or the DNC's chosen one?

2. Town Hall at Las Vegas Lou Ruvo Ctr. for Brain Health, Cleveland Clinic, Frank Gehry Designer

Feb 2016

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Clinic will take center stage tonight in the Democratic primary fight between Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Well, actually it will become the stage. The Clinic has offered up its Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas as the venue for a town hall with Clinton and Sanders.

The event will be broadcast on MSNBC at 9 p.m. The town hall is the last showdown between the candidates before the pivotal Nevada caucuses on Saturday. It will be hosted by moderators Chuck Todd and Jose Diaz-Balart. MSNBC engineers have spent much of the last three days loading audio, lights and staging into the Clinic's Frank Gehry-designed medical center, which focuses on neuro degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson's.

The medical director of the brain health center, Dr. Jeffrey Cummings, said the Clinic only learned that it had been selected to host the event last Friday. "It's been very intense here," he said, adding that preparation for the event includes a detailed security sweep of the building, construction of a stage and backdrop, and intricate technical preparations.

The town hall is expected to be wide ranging, but Cummings said he hopes the venue will encourage the candidates to talk about health care issues, including research and funding for brain health research.> "I will raise a question about Alzheimer's disease, if allowed, and I have applied for that," Cummings said. "We're hoping to be able to introduce the topics that are keenly important to us."
