(10,952 posts)I watched it on a local channel. Someone needed medical attention and he stopped his speech to get help for the person. Onlwy when he knew the person was being assisted did he go back to his speech.

(41,600 posts)Important to Bernie than continuing his speech. He's a genuinely kind man.
It was a great speech. He changed it up a little from what he usually says. I lived it!

(23,867 posts)She was in a room that was 5000, but she said it was two of them. So it could have been 10000 plus thousands overflow. Whatever, it felt like the old timie stadium sound. The video girl also said the roar reached rock concert decibels. Hehe.

(24,010 posts)Like the moderator (don't know his name), I felt deeply moved. Though it was Bernie's somewhat differently worded "stump speech" and I've now heard what he has to say many times, he explained his platform with great vigor and passion, and I still find it difficult to believe my ears, hearing truths like "our rigged political system," and "our rigged economy," and "we need a political revolution" and "medicare for all" (a Democratic Party platform goal for 70 years!), and "free public college tuition" (which we used to have and lost), and taxing Wall Street to get our free public colleges back from the thieves--his whole beautiful litany of not-at-all radical ideas--from A U.S. CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT, WHO IS AHEAD IN THE NATIONAL POLLS!!! and WHO IS NOT TAKING ANY MONEY EXCEPT FROM THE PEOPLE!
I never, ever thought that that would come true--a viable candidate for president, on the cusp of success, REFUSING Corporate money! And I never thought that I would hear the things that he is saying in my lifetime again (--been around a long time, saw the Kennedy-Nixon debates when I was 16; actually saw JFK very close (and took a photo which I still have) as he left the Democratic Party Convention as the nominee in L.A. in 1960).
I didn't think Sanders had a tinker's chance in hell last summer, but was very glad that someone was speaking on our behalf--the forgotten Americans, the whole lot of us! Now he's beating Clinton and beating all the Republicans in national polls. OMG! It's REAL!
You bet I was moved! We still have a couple of mountains to cross, but, by God, it is REALLY possible for us to elect our new FDR! And whatever happens, we will have witnessed the awakening of the "sleeping giant," our own wonderful people so deeply committed, despite everything we've been through, to fairness and justice--such a creative and productive and democracy-loving people, held back for so long by Reaganism, Bushwhackism and Clinton "neo-liberalism."
Go Bernie! But, most of all, go you and me and all of us! This. Is. What. Democracy. Looks. Like!

(41,600 posts)I use to watch CSPAN 24/7 and every time I saw Bernie in the House or Senate giving one of his floor speeches, I wished and hoped he would run for president. I just knew the people in this country would love him as much as I do - and they DO! No politician speaks truth to power! Why? Because they're (most of them) just as corrupt and on-the-take too.
People KNOW truth when they hear it. They know authenticity when they see it. They know ethical when they see it and most importantly, they know COMPASSION AND EMPATHY when they feel it! Bernie is all of that and more.
Bernie has restored my faith in the human race again - except for the Trump and Clinton supporters - and given me hope for this country.
The new polls showing him 6 points ahead Nationally and moving up state by state, tells me he's resonating with the 99%! He really CAN do this! He really can be the President of our dreams.
