DNC considers Bernie and us non-Democrats now, will we become real Dems in November....

Last edited Thu Mar 3, 2016, 02:10 PM - Edit history (1)

when our votes and donations are needed?

My computer went down for 3 days, and it was so frustrating. But something interesting happened during that time. I am not usually a rebel per se, but being away from the political forums and not watching political TV did wonders in clearing my head.

It brought out the rebellious side of my nature, and it is sort of empowering.

Some random thoughts and comments.

I am finding I don't think of myself as a Democrat much anymore. I think that's been a long time coming, and it seems to be here now.

This primary has shown me too much of the ugly side of politics in which a party would deliberately set out to harm one who had voted with them more often than some with the D after their name.

I think what people don't realize is that this race is a turning point in our party, even if Bernie loses.

They have shut us out as not Democratic enough.

They made the primary about race from the start....they have pitted the races against each other.

That's shameful. It was shocking to see this play out as it has.

They have used the party as a weapon against Bernie and his supporters.

That's a terrible thing to do. And since the bylaws require the DNC chair and leaders to be neutral...it may even carry the taint of illegality to a degree.

If Hillary wins that way, I don't really call it a win.

You can not squeeze party loyalty out of those you have insulted for months.

More thoughts:

The nation is getting a lesson in Democratic Socialism. The words may not strike fear anymore.

In 2008 Obama lost 21 states. Hillary stayed in until June.
This primary Bernie supporters gave him close to 45 million in February alone.

I think I just read Bernie took in 6 million on Monday alone.

That's amazing.

That's enough to continue to get his message out no matter what happens.

They are getting a lesson about how Democrats used to be.

Once you say someone is not a Democrat and shut them out...things change. It was tough being a Deaniac but we turned to Kerry and worked hard for him.

This primary has changed things. DWS publicly said Bernie was not a Democrat, she has gone against the neutrality rules that govern the DNC. We have been considered no longer Democrats, yet expected to be there at the end with money and votes.

I was proud of how how Bernie did Super Tuesday. He's running a surprisingly strong campaign. With him all the way.

That's how we're getting it done! Weather Bernie makes it or not, we're showing something serious. I may hedge by buying stock in a pitchfork manufacturer!

If anyone really looks back at the first few weeks of the so-called Tea Party movement, they were mad as hell over the TARP bailouts! That's why the big players on the right swooped in to co-opt it. It could have led to protests on Wall Street. They couldn't let it go on it's own. Like tRump supporters, not all of them were our enemies.

One way or anther, I'm hoping the shit has hit the fan and will stay hit!

You hit the nail on the head with this sentence:

They have shut us out as not Democratic enough.

But WE are the real Democrats.

We remember how the party used to be and we want it back. Bernie will help us get there.

Greatest Page for your great thread!

installed as President. I hope it was worth it to the DNC and DWS because the party will be a shadow of itself if Bernie isn't President. Good luck winning elections without supporters!

Like you, I'm sick of a party that supposedly represents my interests instead ignoring them.

By the way, I was watching the Comcast propaganda organ (MSNBC) earlier today, and was not surprised to hear Howard Dean say that the Republicans are losing national elections just like the Dems did when they ran 3 liberal candidates in a row...

Sorry, Howard. I know you've had an illustrious career, and I'm sorry about how you got fucked over for the 'scream.' But you are wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Bernie and Democratic Socialism represent what this party SHOULD BE, and I guarantee you that I as a member of the party will do everything I can to make sure the Democratic party gets back to its New Deal values.

Simply put, it is PAST TIME for the American people to experience some social and economic justice, and Clinton doesn't do it for us. Bernie does.

He doesn't even sound like the same person who ran in 04. But he's making a lot of money and getting a lot of air time. He's one of the biggest supporters of privatizing schools.

so MANY of our children and grandchildren are victims of these fly by night 'colleges' that do nothing but run up student loans that later default because the kids can't get jobs.

It is so frustrating...delving into the neoliberal philosophy is like following a shit trail. It is immoral and unsustainable - a parasite on the entire earth and entire human race.

As far as the politics, and the political shift: I've been a Democrat for 50 years. Whatever the party is/becomes, just keep in mind: Wherever Bernie goes, I will follow. Whatever that means.

I'm right with you. I'm sick of Third Way types peeing down my back and telling me it's raining. I'm sick of candidates who 'pivot' to the right and remain only socially liberal. I'm sick of being told to hold my nose and vote for shambling mediocrities because they 'suck less' than Republicans.

No more.

...and Rahm making some statement to the effect that Progressives can be ignored, because, "where do they have to go besides the Democratic Party?" (DINO Party?)

I'm an FDR-Democrat, a New Dealer, a Bold Progressive, a Democratic Socialist.

FDR, LBJ and JFK are what made this Party great, and made this country a great place to live and work.

If we have anything to say about it, we will make it great again starting with President Sanders.
