Thousands line up in Lincoln for Bernie Sanders, who says his campaign is gathering steam

(snip)
Trump is turning their anger against “scapegoats” such as Latinos and Muslims, Sanders said, while he believes the problem lies with “corporate greed and Wall Street.”

“Here is the reality. The American people have a right to be angry,” he said during an interview before the start of his 1:30 p.m. rally.

“What Trump is doing is what demagogues have done before – scapegoat another group of people,” said Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont who is running an insurgent bid for the Democratic nomination.

Thousands of Nebraskans lined up early in the morning outside the Lied Center for Performing Arts to hear Sanders. The line extended for blocks. In the end, about 2,500 were let into the auditorium; another 1,500 were turned away.

I wonder if Bernie is energized somewhat by the recognition he got from the Academy Awards. Stardust Mar 2016 #4
I think he switched up the one today because of the lead-in speaker on the Keystone Pipeline BernieforPres2016 Mar 2016 #5

This story says that Bernie spoke to a crowd of about 1500 who couldn't get into the arena on a bullhorn before he went into speak to a capacity crowd of about 2300. There are pictures of people standing in line in the cold waiting to get in along with a lot of tweets on comments Bernie made in his speech.

Here is a link to a YouTube replay of the event. Bernie starts speaking at 30:15. Cornel West starts speaking at about 12:30.

I've been watching most of Bernie's speeches and the one today is changed up a good bit. Much more on energy and climate change in the early portion than normal.

He started with climate change, the Keystone Pipeline, and fracking, and spent more time on them.

He also had some new material, including a story on the price of prescription drugs I hadn't heard previously. He said he took a 50 mile trip across the Canadian border in 1999 with a group of women who had breast cancer, and that they bought their brand name medication for 10% of what it cost in the U.S.

And near the end, he spent about 7 minutes highlighting some of the differences he has with Hillary.
