The hate and violence coming from his campaign is beyond frightening.

(14,459 posts)Some people mirror the kind of leader they are following. We can hope Trump's supporters are like this and just trying to find someone honest.
On the other hand, the legendary hate of the RW seems to have even infected our party...so...

(7,300 posts)There's a thread about this debate where I talked about why it was a smart move for Sen Sanders to accept the invitation. This post affirms it.
Here's the other thread

I think you'll see more of this after the Fox appearance by Sen Sanders.

(2,968 posts)A lot of Trump supporters like Trump because they think he's
not beholden to corporations. This town hall with Fox gives Bernie a chance to
explain his views hopefully to a possibly newer/wider audience. Trump supporters may see they
have another way to go. The Reddit poster was discouraged
after seeing Trump back track during the debates. He went to
feelthebern.org and discovered he agreed with a lot of Bernie's
positions. He and his parents are changing from Republicans to Democrats
so they can vote for Bernie.

(11,802 posts)GOP drove off my boss. He thinks they have lost their minds. Pretty easy to steer to Bernie. Especially with Hillary in the race.

(4,221 posts)She actually said that she doesn't understand why they all stand up there on stage insulting each other and yelling. She hasn't really watched the debates, just a few clips. So this is all news to her. But it's been enough to start asking me questions, and to tell me she doesn't want any crazy people over the military, doesn't want anyone who has a "bad temper" to be in charge of "sending our boys to more wars".
Anyway, it's was all news to her, but she's not political at all. So even the non-political are getting a bit of sunlight on the state of things eventually.

(5 posts)I just interviewed a former Trump supporter for my podcast (who I also found on Reddit, actually) and it was fascinating.
He's young white Chicago native who grew up in a poor and diverse suburb of Chicago, and certainly helped me check my stereotypes about Trump supporters. Sheds light on why millions of Americans support Trump *and* what might inspire them to move in a different direction (really useful information!)
Why did he defect from the Donald, and who did he switch to? I won't ruin the surprise
