I will be the guy waving the two foot tall, four foot wide banner with this on one side..
and this on the other...
The Bernie 2016 one is slightly different, but not much. 2016 being offset to the right.
Let me know if I make it onto TV. Either way I will try again tomorrow at the town hall.
Edit to add
State police have the whole area closed off. Regrouping at nearby rally point but this looks like it may be a bust.

(22,308 posts)There is a facebook page but it just says to be outside of Whiting.
I plan on just going and driving around a little until I see other signs.
(Leaving soon. I have an hour plus drive to get there. If I don't respond right away, that is why.)

(26,291 posts)Which, by the way, is a beautiful venue.
I'm not going because I'm avoiding all crowds to protect my health, as I am finally going to meet my Grand Niece in Asheville, this week. Don't want to risk catching anyone else's virus!

(1,555 posts)As is the Flint Institute of Arts. The whole Cultural Center is amazing. And the Capital Theatre was owned by a friend of mine from high school's family, not sure if it still is or not.
What a great town it was to grow up in!

(26,291 posts)It was a wonderful experience. I've been to so many plays and concerts, there, I can't even keep count.
Flint is an amazing city. I hope people will pay attention to the positive aspects, too!

(1,555 posts)He really made Flint look horrible and I think it did more harm than good for people's views of what at one time was a city that others looked to as a model.
If you haven't yet, check out "Teardown", a book written by a friend of mine, Gordon Young, about the great history and eventual hardships Flint has seen over its history.

(26,291 posts)It has only been recently, within the past 10 years, that Flint has re-bloomed. Downtown campuses of Flint University of Michigan and Michigan State University have really revitalized the city. Kettering (formerly General Motors Institute) and Mott Community College are also in the down town area. Down town is chock a block full of students, now.
ALL of the department stores that once lined Saginaw Street (our beautiful stretch of red brick road) are gone and many of those buildings were empty/derelict at the time that Michael made 'Roger and Me'. Now there are smaller businesses, restaurants, bars, and loft apartments filling those buildings.
The Flint Farmer's Market is now down town and it is one of the top ten Farmer's Markets in the country.
So, 'Roger and Me' was a snap shot in time and we are doing everything in our power to re-invent our city from an industrial town to a college/service related town. Which is why this lead crisis is even more disastrous, happening when we were FINALLY making such amazing progress.
I just walked in from walking the dog in my shorts:p SC
But I know what is like I am from Upstate NY

(26,291 posts)And close to 70, on Tuesday! From day to day, especially this time of year, it's anyone's guess what the weather will be. My daffodils have been poking up for about a month, now, but this weather has them in a state of suspended animation.
