Some very encouraging canvassing today

I only had about an hour to do it in, but the results were impressive today. Before posting, I just now edited out the general results. I'm wondering if even saying the approximate ages, and genders, of the respondents is too close to any ethical line.

But I feel sure it's OK to say it was an encouraging day, here in a suburb of New York City.

P.S. Wow, do I need pamphlets to stick into doors of people not home, and also just for giving to people who are at home. (Supposedly they'll be available by mid-week) Lol, I wore a bright orange sweatshirt today, maybe that helped? (my T-Shits I got on sale should be on the way) I dealt with a couple of language barriers, as parents answered the door. But "Bernie Sanders, vote to be President" seemed to cross that divide, and the children were called to the door. I also got one "I really want a woman to be President" and I rushed to assure that that was a fine thing to want. But I could have waited as in her accented English the woman went on "But Hillary, no, not that woman." (words to that effect) while shaking her head back and forth to say "No". I also had a union guy stop me in my spiel (and it's a very short spiel) by saying "My union already has us going our own way". I assumed he meant Clinton, and I mentioned I'm a retired Union Laborer, but he said, "no, we're backing Sanders". I'm not sure what local he's in, and he might even have been speaking of the contractor he worked for, but I didn't want to spoil the moment by asking him to repeat himself.

P.P.S. This is the software they have us using. I think there might be other software out there as well.

MiniVAN is a mobile canvassing application that integrates with websites provided by NGP VAN. The MiniVAN system allows users to export canvassing lists from VAN onto an iOS or Android device. Canvassers can then enter data into their device as they talk to people on their list. When the canvassers connect their device to the Internet over a wireless or cellular network, they can upload their data back to the VAN with the touch of a button. Administrative users on the VAN can then review the data and apply it to the database in one quick step.

Canvassing with MiniVAN allows NGP VAN clients to spend more time and resources on actually contacting people instead of on data entry. What’s more, it virtually eliminates the lag time between collecting canvass results and putting that data to work.

And that reminds me, maybe there's no need to fret, as I'm sure the campaign will send literature to those who said they strongly support Sanders. Date and location to vote is a must to send to them.

You can print out pamphlets on Bernie's site. They come two to a printed page. bkkyosemite Mar 2016 #1

Push comes to shove I'll run out and buy one. Btw, the law requires one to add some info to any that get distributed. Hoping the email saying to come to grand opening of the local headquarters will arrive very soon. They should have what we need.

REGULATIONS REGARDING
DISCLAIMERS ON BROCHURES

It is NOT possible to produce a digital file with a single, fixed disclaimer that can be used by others, because the person who pays for the printing and distribution must document the fact that they covered the cost. The ONLY proper way to produce a digital flyer/brochure is to enable the end user to be able to edit the disclaimer so that they can insert their specific information.

Legal disclaimers must contain two distinct elements:
1) Whether or not the material is approved by any candidate or candidate's committee. ALL materials that are produced by grassroots supporters must contain the statement: "Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee."

2) The person, group or PAC that paid for the material and labor involved in the printing and distribution of the material. Because this second part can be a Pac, group or individual, this information must be customized depending on who prints and distributes the material. One size does NOT fit all. We have worked hard to make this field editable in the documents that we provide below. There is more space in this text box so you can add a personal message, Facebook group, etc. Multiple forms of contact information make these materials even more effective by allowing you to claim ownership of them.

Please obey the letter of the law.
This is the law: 11 CFR 110.11(b)(3)

SUMMARY:
DISCLAIMERS ON BROCHURES

In general, the FEC regulations regarding disclaimers are good, necessary and proper. Simply stated: everyone needs to clearly document who approved and paid for the physical brochure/flyer that is being distributed. Transparency and accountability are good things.

It sounds like a really practical and quick way to do the canvassing.

I recall the name of the minivan company too.

As long as everything is friendly it's not a chore, it's fun. I suspect the village I live in has already been taken, but maybe not. My Mayor and the local board are Democrats, so that could be fun. I can canvass the guy who has repeatedly canvassed me, lol. Lived here all my life, so maybe some hilarity will ensue.
