Bernie's net worth less than Bill Clinton gets for a single speech-- John Dickerson on Diane Rehm

Just heard this jaw-dropping statement five minutes ago from one of the panelists, think it was Dickerson, who said Clinton gets $500k per speech and Bernie's net worth was less than that-- and had to check it out. Sure enough, here the Washington Post estimates $460k. It is hard to imagine any statistic more revealing of the disparity of worldviews between two candidates.

Of course, that was what the panelist meant, and what can be quantified in dollars. The objection could be made that those gigantic speaker fees don't go into the Clintons' personal pockets, so I checked for their financial net worth and found it to be $55 million, more than a hundred times Bernie's. Does that make his worth as a human being-- intellectually, morally, however you wish to measure it-- less than 1% of theirs?

So the 1% would have us believe.
