The more we argue their distracting points, the faster their posts trend

and they are trying to get the upper hand on the narrative, especially online. We don't need that.

The 'whore' comment was wrong and it does need to be discussed, but it is being used as a distraction to put Bernie on the defensive before the debate tonight. That, I don't accept. Bernie himself didn't say it and we need to focus on the political issues here.

So, I am not going to contribute to the tactic. I implore you to do the same.

Let it die.

Let it sink.

On edit: even if you can make a convincing argument about why the use of the word is not an issue (not that I agree), even if you can make that argument, it will not help with the debate.

Be willing to lose a battle to win a war. Fight smart, please.

It sounds perfect for this situation!

Go to My Account, then click on Trash Can. Auto-trash by Keyword is the first thing you will see.

Currently I have the words: poll(s), whore(s) and a certain DUer's name trashed.

When the brouhaha is over, you can remove the offending word.

I really haven't explored enough. For all its problems (for me, ownership by third-wayer is terribly unfortunate) this website is brilliantly designed.

It is nicely designed.

I am determined not to go down that road today. The Sanders campaign is positive and policy based and Bernie supporters honor him when we stay positive and policy based as well.

Senator Sanders will EOD it. One more time, this isn't his first rodeo, Hillbots.

They can't handle the issues.

She has the "baggage" we've all heard about and Bernie is pretty much the epitome of clean, positive, and good.

So they throw mud. Any mud they can find. They want to drag his image down so Hillary won't look so bad.

I even heard about this non-event on NPR this morning.

Yes, we need to take the wind (or is it gas?) out of the sails of this destructive meme.

and trumpet and filibuster until everyone has been beaten to death. she does it; they do it. to wit: it's OK she voted for the use of cluster bombs in *civilian areas*, not a peep about that, but if somebody in new york city calls her a bad word or uses the wrong tone, everything needs to stop in its tracks. children being blown to pieces and shredded is fine, but if hilly gets an owie--watch out world.

these explosions and flurries of outrage are so uniform, i'm beginning to think they're software-generated. i suppose there's no way around it. it's not like her actions can actually be discussed on their merits or anything. iraq? syria? honduras? haiti? donations for weapons in the middle east?

Here's the content of the above post.. Thanks for writing this up

1. DO NOT ENGAGE. And 2. AN OBSERVATION.

I don't suppose this post is considered pin-worthy because it's just my opinion but I wish it was pin-worthy, at least in this group.

We can join together to make a difference in the look and tone of DU.

1. DO NOT ENGAGE.

When noticing a post that's deliberately INFLAMMATORY, FALSE or BAITING YOU with RIDICULOUS TITLE QUESTIONS if we could just resist the instant urge to respond, eventually that post/thread would drop and die when that posts supporters tired of talking to themselves. This advice works for either side of our current campaign candidates.

When you constantly engage and snipe with your opposition you are only serving to keep their messages on display and at the top of the individual posting pages.

I repeat, DO NOT ENGAGE.

2. AN OBSERVATION.

Once you start noticing the number of recommends on the posts/threads that make it to the top of the GREATEST list you begin to see just how many more Sanders supporters there really are here. Of course that may change now that people have been pointing it out but for the past couple of months it has been quite true.

I have watched many many of the ridiculous Clinton posts grab about 5-10 responses or recommends and then die quickly. That says something people. There is a high probability that some number of paid agitators and/or zealots have joined to do just what they have been doing for some time here.

If you're paying attention you'll notice increasing numbers of these deliberately INFLAMMATORY, FALSE or BAITING posts every time Sanders wins any contest or has any sort of good fortune (or bad) in the press. But you can also notice the newcomers don't stay for long; their usual tactic is to shoot and run. Let them.

If we could just pull this off for several days I think we might notice a change in the appearance of posting pages that just might, MIGHT, help return DU to it's former, less ridiculous, self.

Oh.
And p.s.
This advice would include BOTH sides' need to stop posting items that are intentionally misleading, false, snarky or baiting.
Yes, that means all of us.

Perhaps I should give up on this hope of seeing DU return to it's former, more adult, more respectable self.
Believe me, I have just as much trouble as anyone resisting the urge to respond to the absurd and I have often failed.
But ever since the phenomenal number of ridiculous posts and ongoing wars about The Pope and Sanders I am renewing my effort.

Join me anyone?

I'm in.

Is very hard to believe.

We are at war forever, slaughtering people by the hundreds of thousands. The big banks destroyed the economy and then got the government to cover their losses.

Do you think for a second that our adversaries are bothered by lying and cheap political gimmicks?

Other than paid trolls, Hillary supporters just cannot believe how corrupt and evil our system has become.

I think it is hard for us to keep it and all the implications in focus too. But we must realize who we are challenging -- not Hillary but the people who pay for both sides of our fraudulent politics.
