Related: About this forumWhat do you think of my new Bernie bead designs?
A few weeks ago, I did a giveaway for a Bernie bracelet I made on a bead loom. Here is a picture of that bracelet...
Since then, I've been coming up with some new designs. This is my most recent one. What do you think?
I broke down and bought some pattern software and have been going a little crazy with designs. I'm going to try to sell the patterns so that more people can be making Bernie bracelets, hat bands etc. I've come up with several versions of the first two with the Bernie head and peace symbols, birds, etc. I'm going to try to put some of the patterns on Etsy this weekend.
Anyway... here's the reason for this thread. I need some design input. I came up with this new pattern last night and I want to get some opinions. I like it a lot but I'm just not sure how it works with beads. I want to make this one myself but I'm wondering if the square grid makes his profile look too "blocky." Here's a version the new pattern...

(862 posts)I like the two color sides, but agree that the profile looks blocky. Have you tried the hair and glasses in the middle instead?

(3,469 posts)I agree about it looking too blocky. I hate to work it up on my loom if it's not going to turn out because of the time it takes. Sometimes these look less blocky once you work them up with beads but I might just stick with what I know works for now.
Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

(862 posts)I meant put the hair and glasses in the center of the last design (the one you were asking about). So you have blue on one side, black on the other (I'm thinking maybe a diagonal/slanted line in the center) and the hair and glasses half on the blue and half on the black. In the center of the design. Course glasses would probably have to be white, like the hair, in order to be visible so it might not look as nice as on your other work ...
Just a thought, but nice work!

(3,469 posts)I thought you were saying to move his hair into the middle of the profile one but I think you meant to use the hair/glassed design from one and two into the bernie 2016 one. I'm dense tonight. Too much time staring at little tiny blocks and trying to arrange them into pictures.

(8,028 posts)...but, you need to stick to the front view with glasses.
On your third option: replace the side view with the glasses image and you'll have a winner.

(417 posts)My comment about the blue/black one is about the reddish beads... are they really red? They look magenta on my screen, and I think they would be really striking in a true red. Plus I think bernie's hair should be just white. But his profile is great! I love it even it you didn't change a thing! Please let me know if/when they are for sale! Awesome work, pamela.

(3,469 posts)There are five colors in the hair-light blue, slate blue, hot pink, maroon and white.
Thanks for the nice comments!

(15,406 posts)I would be interested in purchasing a pattern.

(3,469 posts)I think I remember you saying that in an earlier thread. I might try to see if I can come up with a peyote version. If not, these would work off-loom with a brick stitch.
