"Jackson captured 6.9 million votes and won 11 contests: seven primaries (Alabama, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and Virginia) and four caucuses (Delaware, Michigan, South Carolina and Vermont).[6] Jackson also scored March victories in Alaska's caucuses and Texas's local conventions, despite losing the Texas primary.[7][8] Some news accounts credit him with 13 wins.[9] Briefly, after he won 55% of the vote in the Michigan Democratic caucus, he was considered the frontrunner for the nomination, as he surpassed all the other candidates in total number of pledged delegates."

In the end, defeated by DUKAKIS (a yutz if there ever was one) for the nomination.

American has not gotten that much more progressive in the past 27 years. The idea that Bernie has a chance in the real world just makes me shake my damn head...

I just click on "latest threads" and look for interesting content.

Didn't know DU had become so tribalized a reality check is not permitted.

An amazing 53% of all Democrats self-identify as "liberal" today. Up 16% from 2008. Why? Because despite the oligarch's attempts to brainwash the American people, people are waking up to the McCarthy-ite tactics of Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, etc. to push the American public to the right.

After 35 years of failed Reaganomics and failed 3rd way Democratic bullshit, the American people are waking up. They are returning to common sense populism, because they have been losing in the class war for so long they can't stand it. That's why people are flocking to Bernie's events and sending him more money than any other candidate (oligarch money to Hillary excluded). So yeah, America is getting a reality check. His name is Bernie Sanders.

White elected officials who supported me when it mattered'.

The country HAS become more progressive. Not the older generation perhaps, but the younger generation which is why Obama won. Do you think that could have happened back in 1988?

On every progressive issue, voters are to the left and that is why Bernie is resonating so well especially with the young.

That made me laugh. Today, corporations are people. And to some, more important people than you or I.

It wasn't thanks to the efforts of liberal leaders like Senator Sanders. It was thanks to the efforts of people who stood for easy corporate money and not for hard basic democracy and human rights.

I hope some people out there can take a few minutes to listen to what he is saying. Healthcare for all. Less war. Defend the environment. Save education and use it for the good. We will not oppress the poor, the least, of this world to satisfy corporate shareholders need for easy money.

Back then it was the top 10% who controlled the wealth. About the only thing that has changed since 1988.

All because of shareholders and corporate lackeys. If you know any, let them know.

Corporations are people. The most racist, misogynistic, bloodthirsty, backstabbing, war mongering, democracy hating, anti-labor, anti-environment and anti-equality people you could ever know in this lifetime.

Now you can judge someone not just by the company they keep, but also by the company they own, because they are one and the same.
