I doubt the Democratic and GOP eestablishment will be able to keep their hold on power and will no longer be able to put their thumb on the scales to ensure they keep control.

The commenters mention alternate delegates would go in place of primary delegates. That seems more like it's operating as intended.

The seat of a candidate's delegate who fails to show up can be filled by one of that candidate's alternates from a different precinct within the LD. Presumably, this could prevent the kind of flip that occurred in Las Vegas.
