(5,614 posts)I expect to see this question reappear as "Berniebots support leftist extremist over Hillary".
I know that sounds ridiculous but look at the other attacks the HRC campaign has mounted.

(3,040 posts)It depends on the state you live in. If you live in a Purple state, it is important to vote Hillary. In red or blue states, a Jill Stein vote is fine.
Remember, no matter how much we hate Hillary, we cannot allow a Republican in the white house.

(3,040 posts)it is whoever the GOP nominee is. If the GOP candidate gets into office, our chances of getting money out of politics is nil. That person will most likely appoint two Supreme Court Justices.
If the nominee isn't Bernie, at least with Hillary we have a chance. Unfortunately, the system is set up for only two parties so any third party candidate vote that is on your political side, is a vote for the opposition. I hate that, is how it is. It is important to realize that if a Republican is elected, our movement stands no chance of succeeding for at least 10-20 years given the fact that the Court will then have 5 new justices on it. I am not willing to chance that, and it is selfish to do so.
There is more at stake than retribution, our very movement is.

(3,040 posts)Folding is handing the white house over to a republican. The only people we hurt if we don't vote DEMOCRAT is ourselves. Even if Hillary doesn't go far enough or is a warhawk, her policies are much better than any of the GOP.
Hillary won't sign a bill getting rid of Obama care, Hillary will sign a bill for a minimum wage. She probably will get us into more wars, but she isn't advocating carpet bombing.
If a Republican becomes president, we will have to start over with health care, woman's rights, LGBT rights etc 8 years from now, before we can even begin to rebuild our movement. And, that is not acceptable.

(12,655 posts)for a war mongering 1% er who isn't even waiting for a nomination to screw us over and treat us like shit.
she has indicated that she neither needs nor cares for my support in a ge.
i am only too happy to oblige.

(3,040 posts)Listen, I get how awful of a candidate she is and I don't like any of her policies. But, you have no idea how bad it will be if the GOP candidate is in the white house. Once we have a Republican as president we will be stuck with that person for four years. And, given their rhetoric and introduced bills, having someone that could sign them into law is a bad thing. No amount of protesting will stop the awfulness they will make law and policy. It will be like the Bush administration on steroids. If -- and I hope to God she is NOT nominated -- Hillary is the nominee we need to ensure she is elected. Otherwise, we are all effed.
Listen to this interview with one of the initial 'leaders' of the occupy NYC movement explain why protests will mean nothing if we have a GOP president: (it is audio only):

(12,655 posts)there are lots of serious things happening in the world. but what does one do when they view the policies of a dem to be as bad as the policies of a repub?
yes, as bad. with the execption of a moderate and ever changing "prochoice" position, hillary is actually more right than trump on many issues, possibly kasich too. cruz honestly is the only one truly to her right on everything. but sadly, i dont think he has experienced the corrupting influences of money or foreign governments to the degree that she has. no where close. so they both have a black mark in my view.
but as i have always said, when the ge rolls around i will examine my available options. if its cruz, that will definitely affect me. so we will have to see.

(3,040 posts)...but if she is the nominee and we actively sabotage her campaign, we have a GOP president with a GOP Congress.
... Which, by my estimates, is far worse.

(10,007 posts)It will not happen as long as there are alternatives that actually stand for the things I believe.
I've heard it all before and I'm not buying it. If the Democrats want my vote, then they can damned well give me someone worth voting for. "You will come to love Big Sister in the end" doesn't cut it.

(10,336 posts)we all somehow persuade more people to vote, nothing at all will change in that direction. We aren't there yet. That's just reality. Someday soon, it appears, we will be there. I did not tell you to sit down and shut up. I told you that Jill Stein, in my opinion, will not appear on the ballot no matter how many Greens try to spread her meme over the internet. (however well intended that may or may not be, I make no judgement that way). No one knows who she is, nor will they "warm up" to her enough to keep her from being a deadly anchor on the ticket.

(10,007 posts)But the shenanigans of the DNC, the White House Chief of Staff calling us "retards", the President telling us to "eat our peas," those comments about the "professional Left" - all are designed to keep progressives quiet, afraid, and in line.

(3,343 posts)Is to vote for who you believe in.
Negative partisanship and cynically trying to game the system has failed to produce results that anyone is happy with.
Selling out America, because you're scared of the other isn't smart, it's suicidal.
I refuse to vote for someone I think is dishonest and corrupt. That's my right and what I believe to be right. If the entire country did that America would be better overnight. Not perfect but better.
