Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forum(Bernie Group) Did Hillary Clinton Just Admit on LIVE TV That Her Iraq War Vote Was a Bribe?
Im sitting there in the Oval Office, and Bush says to me, What do you need? And I said, I need $20 billion to rebuild, you know, New York, and he said, You got it. And he was good to his word, Clinton said in response to Matthews question on why Bernie Sanders was right on the Iraq War vote and Clinton was wrong.
Literally, that same day, I get back to the Capitol, and the Republicans are trying to take that money away. We kept calling the White House, Bush kept saying, I gave them my word, Im going to stick with it. So, you know, I had a different set of experiences.
As a U.S. Senator from New York, Clinton famously voted for the authorization for use of military force in Iraq in 2003. The War in Iraq is regarded as one of the worst foreign policy blunders in a century, playing a key role in creating the conditions that led to the rise of ISIS.
I highly recommend watching the video

(3,226 posts)What ever it takes to get what she wants in the moment, that is why there is no consistency in her views it is always about what is in it for her. I know she will say 9/11 she did it for NY but someone with a backbone would have been able to shame Bush and expose him if he had tried to withhold the funds.

(1,662 posts)Here she is admitting to taking a bribe from Georgie W to buy her vote on Iraq.
She has been bought by the MIC and the Saudis (the real perpetrators of 911) and approved weapons deals that are now used to drop bombs on Yemen and the MIC makes trillions on death machines.
She has been bought by Wall Street and voted for a $700 billion dollar bonus I mean bailout for billionaires making bad bets.
Just like the multinational corporations she represents greed is her only motivation.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)She had access to the most knowledgeable person outside of the Bush administration regarding 9/11, Iraq and WMD. Her husband was president a mere 8 months prior to 9/11 and was president for 8 years. He had daily intelligence briefings on the state of the world & had contacts to lifelong non-partisan bureaucrats in the intelligence community. Even if she wasn't privy to the Top Secret information her husband was as first lady, I sure as heck would think she would ask him if there were WMD in Iraq before signing off on a war that will kill Americans.
She knew the truth and her vote was purely political.

(10,530 posts)Either she knew there were no WMD's and didn't care, or at best she didn't care enough to know.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)If your spouse was about to vote us into war on a well publicised lie, wouldn't you take them aside and say 'honey, ugh you didn't hear this from me but Bush is lying.'
To think otherwise is preposterous.

(4,280 posts)I read some of the reports from other countries saying Saddam had NO WMD's before the vote. I remember people around the world protesting against a war in Iraq. I agree her vote was political.

(3,017 posts)She is saying that she trusted GWB because right after 9/11, he promised her that NY would get $20 billion for rebuilding and then kept his word even as he was under political pressure from Republicans to cut it. So she is saying that he kept his word on that, so I trusted him to be telling the truth on Iraq.
But my guess is that the entire story she's telling is a lie and an excuse for why she voted yes on the Iraq War. It is Hillary trying to take credit for getting money for New York in the aftermath of 9/11, as if the money wouldn't have been coming without her doing a thing and is there was anybody opposed to helping New York. The country was as united in the aftermath of 9/11 as at any time I can recall in my life, and I will be 59 next month. I find the idea that Republicans were trying to keep Bush from giving federal support to New York after 9/11 to be preposterous, a typical Hillary whopper.
Maybe this whopper is what she and GWB were sharing the laugh about at Nancy Reagan's funeral.
