Beyond This Election

I think that Bernie should take his Campaign as far as it can go. Win or Lose. Because the Movement that he has started, the Political Revolution that he has started, can go on beyond his Candidacy and this Election. We need a Progressive Movement in and around the Democratic Party and Bernie has started that. Whether we Win or Lose the Nomination, it is already a Victory. The Political Revolution that Bernie started can continue on and go further.

We need an Alliance of Sanders Democrats and Independents that pushes forward Bernie's Philosophies, Policies and Values. Just as the Republicans have their Tea Party, we have our Sanders Progressives. We need to field and elect as many Sanders Democrats and Independents as possible, inside and outside the Democratic Party.

Many of tomorrow's elected officials are supporters of Bernie's today. Bernie's campaign should be a call to action for all of us. We need to continue to organize to run Sanders Progressives as candidates at the Local, State, and Federal levels. This Movement is beyond one person.

We need to take control of the Congress and mobilize locally in every State across the Nation. Even if Bernie does not get the Nomination, his Candidacy can be the start of a new Progressive Movement in America. With Sanders still in the Senate, he can lead a National Progressive Movement across America to elect Sanders Progressives, and change our Nation for the better. Whether we Win or Lose the Nomination, the Fight goes on.

When I see the news reports about the role of the Saudis in 9/11, the total corruption of the cover-up of that role (and I suspected it because I read Ron Suskind's book on Paul O'Neill's memories of his service as Sec. of the Treasury, The Price of Loyalty), the tax avoidance, the trade agreements that squander our sovereignty and the rule of law in our country, I want to continue to build a progressive movement, the movement Sanders has started.

I certainly hope that Sanders continues to run.

I'm in California, and we are just starting to organize for our primary.

Please. Bernie. Don't quite if you can possibly continue.

The party bosses will make sure fewer independents can vote in Democratic primaries. That means the independents you speak of really won't have a voice in the movement.

But independents are essential to any success. There are probably more independent progressive votes than progressive votes from inside the party. And in the party progressives aren't strong enough to copy the "tea party" model.

They only way to hope to reach viability is as a third party. That has to be an option at this point.

I respectfully disagree. As Progressives, we should make it our goal to take over the Democratic Party. A Third Party would just marginalize our position. As Sanders Progressives, we should do everything we can to take over the Democratic Party and also work outside of it as well. It is not actually a take over, but a restoration of the Party's Progressive Base.

Just as the Republicans have their Tea Party, Democrats have Sanders Progressives. We need to work both within and outside the Democratic Party to pull the Country away from the Center-Right by fielding Candidates who are Sanders Democrats as well as Independents. A Separate Party would just split the Constituency.

The Tea Party people nominate their own kind within the Party. That is how we got Ted Cruz. I would love to see Cruz and his ilk run as an Independent Tea Party Candidates against Trump. It would divide the Republicans and their Allies. We should not fall into that kind of trap. No, the smart move is to stay in the Party and Ally with Independents as well as Progressive Sanders Democrats.

I think Bernie will take it as far as possible, win or lose. Even if Hillary does get the Nomination, Bernie will at a minimum be able to get concessions out of her at the Convention.

If Bernie does not get the Nomination, he will still be in the Senate. He can continue to lead the Movement from there. He will still have his Campaign Organization. He will still have millions of Supporters, both inside and outside of the Democratic Party. He will still have his Integrity. The fight will continue. This is just the first chapter.

If Hillary does get elected, Bernie will still be in a strong position inside the Senate. From there he can lead the Progressive Opposition. He can keep Hillary as honest as possible, and force Progressive concessions out of her. Bernie can lead a National Movement of Progressives from the Senate. He can lead a cadre of Progressive Candidates to run for Office at all levels of Government.

Progressive Candidates inspired by Bernie should run for Local, State, and Federal Office as Sanders Democrats and Independents. The Republicans have their Tea Party. We have our Sanders Progressives. Win or lose this Nomination, we will continue to push until we direct the Democratic Party and the Country away from the 1%. This fight is far from over.

The time is right for a new Progressive movement and, I agree, Senator Sanders would be able to do a lot to establish it from inside the Senate. As Secretary Clinton can testify, Barry Goldwater got the conservative movement going when he was a Senator from Arizona.

No reason why we can't do the same thing.
