Did anyone ever call Dick Cheney or Bush 'radical'?
I agree with her.
Sick and tired of honest politicians being called names, while lying, cheating, war criminals, and Wall St criminals are treated as if they were normal.
That's a primary reason why I am supporting Bernie also. He is honest!

(12,051 posts)underestimated, IMHO. Considering the political bullshit and waffling we've seen the past 30 years, an honest, plain-speaking guy like Bernie is nothing less than an earthquake that shakes apart all the bullshit.

Growing up no one who knew me from family or friends would have ever described me as a radical. And yet, today, the candidate I most support is considered the biggest radical of them all!
Damn this country's political spectrum and landscape has sure changed....radically!

(17,064 posts)Hillary has nothing to offer them. And the youth are less tuned in to TV, and more social media savvy, where Bernie is dominating Hillary. Her M$M efforts will cost a lot of money, and completely miss the targeted group. And I think Bernie will do better P2P with the kids...Hillary is only comfortable in heavily scripted appearances with the 1%.

There is no doubt that Bernie will get the youth vote. They have not been conditioned to accepting the obvious lies we are told, and as you say, they don't watch the Corporate Media for news.

People need to know how much money our politicians get from wealthy donors and then think about who they really represent.
All of them should be doing what Bernie is doing.
I do not believe anyone who says 'I want to end CU' while taking billions from Wall St. It just doesn't add up.

(8,175 posts)that a President cannot do everything by himself(herself)...and that as much as Bernie wants to, he may not accomplish all his goals.
but, he will surely try! And that to me, is worth my vote, and my full support, and my respect.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)much to change things unless MILLIONS of people are with him. That is why, he says, he is not just running for President, he wants to start a political revolution made up of millions of Americans because, he says, IF the people unite against the system as it is now right now, they cannot lose.
He also mentioned how Obama had an army of supporters ready to help him, but never called them once elected. He says he will not make that mistake.
So yes, I would worry about him being alone once he got to the WH and I think he is telling us something he knows from his years of watching it all in DC. He is saying that we DO have the power, once we are united. Not to let them have us believe that it is no use trying, because, he says, that is what they want us to believe.
What they fear most is that the people, all of the people, will unite against them. And that he says, is one of his main goals in running in this election.

Show me the organization that was formed, that we all were waiting for, to help this president FORCE eg, Single Payer, which he supported in his campaign. Or any other issue where organized support from millions of people could have made the difference. THIS has been an issue for years now. Sorry you missed it.

They are in for a shock I think, their policies have greatly harmed this country and much as they, arrogant and elitist as they are, think the people are stupid, that is far from the truth.
It just took a while to figure out what had gone wrong with this country.

(14,174 posts)How is this a lie?
President Obama missed an historical opportunity to rally that active liberal branch, the ones that pounded the pavement for him, to help create a wave of hope and change. Most Americans when you ask them about specific viewpoints reveal they are actually more liberal than the corporate media and the Washington bubble try to portray. So there was a huuuuuuuuge opportunity to use the base he had already established with the left and expand it. There have been few great orator Presidents. FDR and JFK were also exceptional. FDR used the bully pulpit to cow his enemies and champion The New Deal. JFK successfully established the Peace Corps and championed public service, and pushed through the first moon landing.
The time was ripe for a transformative shift. All the US needed was a great orator in leadership to galvanize those moderates, the uninformed, the dormant activists. There was no call. Once the election was over, Obama rarely gave rousing speeches anymore. It became only about enraging his base by appointing establishment insiders and Republicans and in press conferences he, or his appointees, sneered at his own base that got him elected in the primaries.
They slowly but surely ostricized those who could have made up an army of support for progressive changes. Single Payer, Gitmo, and finance reform of elections. If anyone could rally support and explain the benefits to the population of tackling these issues it was Obama and his incredible gift of the gab. But it seemed from the get go that he was more interested in ensconcing himself into the Washington establishment and desparately did NOT want to be seen as FOX News was portraying him...as an outside agitator and radical. When at the time (and still) this is exactly what was needed.
Dems to Win
(2,161 posts)We need more than Bernie as President with an army of supporters. We need lots of Bernie supporters elected to Congress!
If we're going to have a political revolution, I hope that we give people more than just the top of the ticket to vote for. I'd like to see a Bernie supporter running in every congressional district and senate seat. At least we'd have the possibility of some real change if we could pull off a victory for Bernie and a couple of hundred congressmembers.
If the young people for Bernie are 25 years old or more, they can run for office. I hope that encouraging them to run becomes a part of the Bernie campaign.

(62,325 posts)than the older generation. For one thing, they do not use the Corporate Media for their news, they get it online from many sources and have been for a long time.
Isn't everyone's motivation the same as hers? I don't believe it's negative, it is pointing out a negative which she wants to fix.
If the country was doing fine, none of us would be so desperate to find a candidate we can support and trust to start the enormous job of reversing policies that have been so harmful to this country.
I am motivated by these negative policies and politicians but feel very positive now that we have a really good choice finally.

Oftentimes the old amateur photographer in me criticizes a photo, (I really need to stop doing this). One thing I would have done differently is added a bit more light to the girl's face. Then this thought occurred to me: Maybe it's a metaphor for all youth today being in a political shadow. It's not like pollsters are calling the youth of America on their cell phones and asking for their opinions. I have a sneaky hunch that this particular demographic is going to come out of the 'shadows' and we Sanders supporters are about to get some fairly substantial support! (If my memory is accurate, both Thom Hartmann and Senator Sanders has gone over College tuition relief on Brunch With Bernie at least once if not more).

But since I have been regularly experiencing listening to him in speeches and interviews, I have come to realize not only his charm but his honesty and candor, that are like oases in the desert of the Washington political scene. It really is becoming a phenomenon, but shouldn't surprise anyone. It was the younger generation that sounded the alarm bell with OWS organizing, introducing lingo that has now become part of the language to describe, briefly, the state of our nation's gross inequalities.
I am confident they will register and work to get others registered to vote for Bernie.
