Indianapolis, Ind (WIBQ) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will attend a march and rally to protest the layoffs at Carrier.

It'll take place at noon today on the south lawn of the Indiana Statehouse.

Sanders is expected to talk about Carrier's controversial plan to move most of its Indiana jobs to Mexico.

1. Carrier Workers, Supporters to gather for Rally at Statehouse Friday

INDIANAPOLIS -- Carrier employees and supporters will rally Friday in protest of the company's decision to move thousands of jobs to Mexico.

Hundreds are expected at the statehouse and some big political names have been invited to join, as well.

The rally will be held on the south lawn beginning at noon. Those in attendance are expected to march in the immediate area downtown following their initial gathering.

Bernie Sanders will be in attendance to support the workers, and is scheduled to speak around 1 p.m., sources confirmed to Call 6 Investigates.

Carrier decided in February to move 1,400 Indianapolis jobs (2,100 in total) to Monterrey, Mexico. RTV6 has been covering the story from the moment in broke with a viral video of the announcement to the employees of Indy's plant.

Organizers told us the goal of the rally and march is to urgently push for rewriting trade rules.

Mayor Joe Hogsett, Congressman Andre Carson and Indiana Gubernatorial candidate John Gregg are also expected to be at the rally.
