Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBerners: Two quick thoughts for today:
1. Can you donate today? Even $5? or $1? Here is Omaha Steve's Act Blue/DU link:
https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/duforbernie
Thank you if you can! California is a huge state, with expensive media markets.
2. Can you take just 20 minutes today to take the online training to phone bank for Bernie? Basically you watch a couple of videos. Then you can log on to make phone calls to the upcoming primary states to canvass the voters, for Bernie. It is easy, and SO important- more important than ever as this campaign moves into the last few states. You can do this right here: https://go.berniesanders.com/page/content/phonebank
Thanks for reading! I'm off now to take care of some personal business at the courthouse. I will be gone for several hours. Bern on!

(46,179 posts)what I can every payday, which, for me, is once a month. I have to live on what I don't donate for the rest of the month.
So my May donation went in last week.
Edited to add:
I have never phone banked. I just don't "get" phone banking. Is it really effective? Can someone explain how it helps?
My thoughts:
1. I have a distinct phone phobia; I really hate talking on the phone. I'd do it, though, if I thought it would make a difference.
2. Connected to #1: I hate it when people I don't know call me. I generally don't answer the phone, so I miss those calls. Obviously, I've never been contacted by anyone's campaign, lol.
3. Assuming that there are people out there who don't mind taking calls from strangers, where do the lists of people to call come from? Are we calling people who agree with us, or who disagree with us, or what?
4. Is there a script or some phrases or talking points? I know that any Clinton supporter calling me to try to convince me to switch teams would be doomed to failure. Do people really change their minds because of phone conversations with strangers?
Talk me through this, and I could spend some time this weekend. I suspect that most people in my state have already voted, or will be doing so this weekend, so Kentucky might be a more productive audience...

(10,336 posts)It is all explained in the videos. I will explain more, but I'm literally on my way out the door for a court appointment. I will be back on in a few hours and will explain more of what I know.

(12,882 posts)I may take up your challenge for 5 bucks.
I have phone banked for various campaigns in the last decade or so. It can be frustrating but it can also be fun.
