Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumDear Bernie Group. I must come before you very sorrowfully...again.
Remember when I sadly informed you that your candidate had ended an interview with a reporter? http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1280&pid=151508
Well, I have much worse news now. Apparently, you are a very clueless lot, bless your hearts,* despite every media outlet drumming this into you. I must solemnly inform you (brace yourselves): Every Presidential hopeful does not win a Presidential primary. One wins; the rest lose. The same is true of the general election. Even if you keep donating, Bernie may not be President and the only thing you will have gotten for your money will quite a few incredibly wonderful sea changes in U.S. politics. (Please see "Sea changes in US politics, thanks to Senator Sanders and his supporters" http://www.democraticunderground.com/1280109865 )
Only a few primaries and caucuses remain in 2016. Bernie is behind in pledged delegates. On the other hand, California alone has hundreds of pledged delegates to apportion. Also, something or other about Hillary or Bill may finally convince the Party PTB that Hillary will be a weaker candidate in the general than they had imagined. (BTW, Today Show this morning reported that Trump is only 3 points behind Hillary nationally. I'm guessing that's in the neighborhood of margin of error.) There is even a chance that the Democratic nomination could end up being between Bernie and Biden at the Convention in Philadelphia. Who knows? If people can nominate Trump, anything is possible this year, but, again, there is no guaranty Bernie will win, even if you keep donating.. There is also no guaranty he will lose. After all, Bernie did start out 65 points, hundreds of endorsements and millions of dollars behind and, for some reason, one state party after another has been falling short on that whole "fair elections" thingie. Yet, Hillary still is not the nominee.
Finally, when donating for any cause, please use common sense and don't send the only money you have for groceries or rent or the mortgage. I know that I don't want that for you and I very much doubt Bernie does.
Are we crystal?
As for me and mine, we are with Bernie and his sea change agenda as long as he wants us and then with whoever takes up his torch. And I am still donating. (To all internet altruists: I have it on good authority--several, actually--that I am capable of deciding how I wish to spend my own money and I know I am better able to decide how to spend my own money than someone who has never met me, so relax, k?)
What you do or don't do is entirely up to you. However, if you do want to donate, the minimum donation is $1 and here are the links:

*Although I have lived only in three Northeastern states, I am, of course, using this brief prayer that God bless your heart as condescending snark. I don't know why you lot did not give up on your candidate when I told you that he had literally ended an interview with a reporter. I certainly hope you've finally learned your damned lesson. And speaking of lessons, I leave you (for now) with a variation on a Third Way classic: Never let a tiny turd in the punchbowl become the enemy of no turd at all.

(14,255 posts)I do think it so heartwarming that some are so very concerned about people donating to Bernie. When they could be donating to Hillary. Which is what is actually going on.

(45,251 posts)Bernie supporters may not be spending their money wisely if they are donating to Bernie.
Among the very last things I want to help prove is that individuals like me cannot finance a campaign or that we cannot be counted on because we panic whenever our candidate falls behind.
Thanks for the kind words.

(14,255 posts)everyone who does the Bernie BUT dance these days. Don't care how long they have been here.
I am not missing a thing except some really verbose posts that boil down to give up and support Hillary.
A tag-team of Jesuit debaters could not accomplish that.
Looks to me like the Establishment has been threatened by two unexpectedly charismatic - in vastly different ways - candidates.
The difference, IMO and all that, is that Trump is a Pied Piper. Bernie is a harbinger. A Pied Piper's influence disappears when he does. A harbinger is a sign of things to come. Can't be bullied away.

(45,251 posts)That's a great one. Don't be surprised if I steal it, djean, then forget from whom I stole it. I'm awful that way.

(15,730 posts)A new age of protesting is about to enter. No longer will events be left on the cutting room floor by the networks. And the old chant "The whole world is watching" will be different. It will not be watching whenever they decide we can see it, or whenever a history class is taught and some old films are shown. It will be "The whole world is watching" LIVE and in HD.

I covered ending the interview in another OP. I was just kind of reminding people about it in this post.

merrily
(45,251 posts)Yes, I am sure they are. DWS is an incumbent and both the DNC and DCCC are firmly on the side of incumbents. Besides that, she is head of the DNC. And, on top of all that, Obama has endorsed her and I believe will be campaigning for her. And even on top of that, she has been invaluable in helping the presumptive nominee of the Party since 2012 stay the presumptive nominee. In today's Democratic Party, I think that's a royal flush.

(47,953 posts)At least for the first part! But then you had to go an ruin it by telling us what you really believe! Third Way Manny would never do that!

(45,251 posts)The entire post says what I mean, but says it sarcastically.
In fairness to both Manny and me, I was, in the words of my doting husband, "such a wiseass" long before I knew of the existence of DU, let alone Manny; and Manny is far better at what he does than I am at what I do.
For just one thing, Manny can say in four lines what takes me at least forty and he makes his points much less pedantically than I. Those are big pluses. On the plus side for me (I think), my post is trying to raise money for Bernie.
The only time I ever tried to post in the style of Third Way Manny was the day he was banned--and I signed it Third Way merrily. http://www.democraticunderground.com/128085230 Even then it was more Third Way Manny's cousin Third Way merrily than it was Third Way Manny.

Guaranty vs Guarantee
Guaranty and guarantee are two English words which are differentiated on the basis of their being a verb and a noun. In modern times, the usages have changed, and the word guaranty is commonly used in legal terms more so than in the common, non-legal English language. Guarantee is the noun whereas guaranty is the verb. Though the usage of the word guaranty has become obsolete and is used as just a variant of the word guarantee.
(snip ... )
1.Guaranty is an English word which is used in modern times most commonly in the context of finance and legal language; guarantee, on the other hand, is most commonly used in the context of quality assurance for a product and its warranty. It includes the chance of reimbursement in case the product is not up to the standards on the quality front.
2.Guarantee is the noun whereas guaranty is the verb. The usage of the word guaranty, however, has become obsolete and is used as just a variant of the word guarantee.

(45,251 posts)I used guarantee and someone corrected me. Also corrected me on guaranteed. It's guarantied, apparently. Anyway, I believed her.

(4,805 posts)Interesting about those two words. After reading, I am thinking either one is correct but, not sure.
Before reading, I would have sworn that guarantee would have been the right choice word usage.
$27.oo for Bernie!
