population becoming so cynical - cynical to the point of undermining their own self interests. Once you've given up on your own welfare in the name of "pragmatism" and "reality," it logically follows that you begin to condemn those who have not done likewise as "purists" and "wearing halos." Who in the past so famously condemned non-"pragmatists" as "do-gooders" and "bleeding heart liberals"?
