(6,719 posts)Only Bernie cares. He has interacted with real people all across this country. Today in the San Joaquin Valley he continues to keep his heart open and his mind clear and focused. Please listen to him.

(24,010 posts)...sought out the problems of the people he was asking to vote for him, and educated the rest of us about those problems. Bernie, in his local inquiries--talking to local people in the Valley--found out something that even I didn't know (I'm a Californian) and that he admits that he didn't know until he talked to people, and that is that tap water in the Valley has toxins in it. He didn't specify which toxins but he compared it to Flint, MI, and expressed his shock that all the way across the country from Flint, out here in California, people were facing a similar problem, and, just as in Flint, are having to pay high rates for poisoned tap water while having to go out and BUY water to drink! (It's probably pesticides, but I'm not sure and I will find out.)
A great educator, a great leader, a great listener--we need this man as president! We NEED him! We don't get candidates like this very often. We're lucky to see a candidate like Bernie Sanders once in a lifetime. I'm 71 and have seen two--the one we lost and this one!
JFK was a great man in a different way. So is Jimmy Carter. So will Obama likely be, when we've gained some perspective on him. But none of them have this gift for listening and educating and going out among the people and being one of us, and seeing things as they are in American life for most people. It is a gift! RFK had it. Bernie has it.
