The poll, which ran over three months and included interviews with more than 16,000 people, found that Donald Trump supporters were more likely to describe blacks negatively, relative to whites, when compared with people who backed fellow Republicans Ted Cruz and John Kasich or Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
The press likes to run stories about Sanders supports supposedly backing Trump (even, sadly, the Daily Show, which used to be all about calling out the media), but this shows why that's nonsense.
Sanders and Trump may have some policy positions that appear similar, but there's a vast ideological divide between progressives and nativists. Sanders supporters may vote Green or stay home, but they're not going to vote for Trump, even if it makes for good clickbait.

(5,668 posts)he talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. His supporters seem to believe him. Just like someone else here. But I've been thru 8 yrs of that and I'd rather not repeat it.
Bernie only made it so insanely far because of 2 things. 1. Very poor campaigning from Hillary and 2. a better (or worse depending on sides) than expected amount of Americans who don't like either Plump or Hillary. I'll be writing his name in. I won't vote green. Think of it this way. Bernie causes more harm to Trump than he does to Hillary. More Moderate (irony) Republicans support Bernie than they support Trump. Independents will . But a Green Party run will destroy Hillary and Hillary Only. So without Bernie in the race but a strong Green 3rd party run is a worry. Dads tea party but time and time again Christian Republicans are not fans of Trump. He rolls his eyes every time even if they are friends.

(45,251 posts)I don't know that BLM ever approved Hillary's platform, though. https://www.balloon-juice.com/2016/04/07/open-thread-bill-clinton-vs-blm-activists-in-context/
Ironic how that all played out.
I was not referring to BLM's portraying Bernie's supporters as the most racist. I don't think BLM did that. Others, however, sure did.

(36,063 posts)I mean geesh. GDP had wave after of wave of calling out racist support of the old guy from Vermont.
It was almost like they confused the guy with the orange comb-over with the guy who never had an interest in combing at all.

(11,945 posts)Those who benefit from income inequality shamelessly exploit social issues in order to appear "liberal," but they don't do anything to actually help people. (Warning: rough language, vulgarity and childish attitudes).

The media and others love to portray us as racists. I have not seen that. Any Sanders supporter I have met has been a person working for justice.

(29,251 posts)not inconsistent with other positions trumpeted. Twisting, contorting every possible angle to make Bernie seem an inauthentic beacon of progressiveness and equality.
Nice to see some data confirming... what all of us already know. Thanks for posting this.
