Sue Minter Receives Endorsement from Bernie Sanders
Minter’s platform in-line with progressive Senator’s vision
Waterbury Center, Vt. – Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Sue Minter received the endorsement of Vermont’s independent Senator Bernie Sanders.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to receive Bernie’s endorsement, and I am proud of what he has done to change the national conversation about rebuilding the middle class. Bernie’s mission is reflected in our campaign’s goals of getting Vermonters the raise they deserve, making college affordable and passing paid family leave,” said Minter. “We also stand together on the fight against climate change.”
“Sue Minter understands that the key for Vermont's economic future is opening up higher education to all Vermonters, regardless of income,” Sanders said. “That’s why, if elected governor, she will work to make community colleges and Vermont Tech tuition free,” he added.
Minter’s Vermont Promise program addresses affordability in Vermont for families and students by providing two-years free tuition for Vermonters to attend Vermont Technical and Community Colleges. The program also helps Vermont businesses, many of which struggle to find qualified workers in the state.
