(494 posts)I'm just shocked at the backlash I got in the General Discussion forum for suggesting Bernie 2020. I came to this site because I wanted to find ways to participate and express myself regarding this shit show of an administration. I voted for Obama twice and then Hillary but I'm a registered independent. My first election was Obama's first. I probably could have voted for someone like Kasich over Hillary. But I am clearly what you would call a Never Trumper. I wish more of the site could see how their disdain for Bernie hurts the party.

(454 posts)will swarm any thread that mentions Bernie in a positive way with numerous negative posts, no matter what the topic.
As for this topic, I'd be happy for Bernie/Franken or even Franken/Bernie, as I like them both. However, they are both doing great jobs in the Senate, so if there are other progressive candidates up for President/VP that would also keep our progressives in the senate, I'd be fine with that too.

(11,175 posts)DU is not what it was a year ago. The Clinton-Sanders fight generated a lot of animosity. Without going into the details, I'll just say that, when the dust settled, there had been many departures, voluntary and involuntary, from DU. Those no longer with us include a small number of the most intemperate Clinton supporters and a much larger number of the Sanders supporters. The result is a marked change in the overall tenor of the discussion, including a change in how juries tend to vote when a post is alerted. The range of opinions that can be usefully discussed is narrower than it used to be.

(494 posts)..very well said Jim Lane... sad but true...
Norbert9, I would also suggest that you familiarize yourself with DU's Terms of Service...

...there are some here that will alert on you for the slightest perceived violation, so it's best to know the ToS...

(454 posts)But then I remember this Bernie Sanders group and everything Donkees puts into it, and other Berniecrats and progressives that are still here and it keeps me going.
But yes, I often feel that I have to tip-toe around certain subjects, such as discussing any sort of ways to improve the party (because we desperately need it after so many decades of losses), because it will just get swarmed and alerted on by those who think any sort of criticism is anti-Democratic party. And you may notice that it's okay to have thread after thread of Bernie-bashing topics, but not okay to have the same concerning other candidates.
And now it seems the latest accusation for anything pro-Bernie is that we're all Russian bots...because we certainly can't be U.S. citizens and like Bernie's policies at the same time!
But yes, the balance on this site is very drastically tilted at the moment and it would certainly affect the jury system.
