BP's propaganda and the hundreds of millions they have spent in ad dollars has duped the American public into believing BP has settled with everyone and cleaned up their mess. The current class settlement that BP wrote was agreed to by the judge and his hand-picked Plaintiffs Steering Committee (PSC) so they could get $600,000,000 from BP for attorney's fees. They only get the money if the settlement never gets overturned on appeal. That is why they are not fighting a settlement where 75% of the victims are being denied ANY COMPENSATION!
We have the technology for renewable energy but they block any talk of switching over. In my lifetime I have watched the fish population of the Gulf in serious decline. In the last several summers I have seen where we have flesh eating bacteria bloom as the waters get real warm in late summer, except for this year when it has been most of the summer. This is caused by pollution combining into a toxic stew of sewage, fertilizer, weed killer/pesticides and other stuff. I can no longer take my grandkids to the beach or eat the fish caught from these waters. Why should we allow our Gulf waters to be an unflushed toilet?
That's just BP, now Shell is going to drill the Artic if they can ever stop all of the screw ups to get there. How can we have any confidence in them to avoid contaminating the environment? It is a virtual guarantee that they will screw it up!
