No longer will people be cut off from the benefits of trade and contact with the US due to an obsolescent feud.

spared that because they had to switch to the ceremony. Three of the Americans who brought down the American flag 45 years ago are their for it to be brought up again

CNN brought up that Jeffrey De Laurentis the Ambassador may not get confirmed because of opposition to the re-establishment of relations.

Isn't it wonderful how an extremely positive historic event has to be subtly brought down a notch by a fox wanta be network.

Or maybe he stumbled on a word.

United States severs diplomatic relations with Cuba

In the climax of deteriorating relations between the United States and Fidel Castro’s government in Cuba, President Dwight D. Eisenhower closes the American embassy in Havana and severs diplomatic relations.

Edit: My point being he's being factual about Eisenhower's move to close the embassy at a time of crisis.

he discussed the Missile Crisis first and then mentioned Eisenhower. Since I was posting as I was listening, I probably did not hear every word.

I think I might have organized the speech chronologically. Actually, I would not have re-hashed the negative history that led up to the closing of the embassy at all. I would have used the occasion to give an entirely different kind of speech.
