this is basically a tie. Yes, Clinton has nothing to worry about in her coronation!

I see that Trump is the winner thus far on the GOP side but Carson is 2nd. I have said from the beginning that he is someone to watch out for. He polls very high in these types of straw polls.

I know this poll isn't all that serious, but it is kinda fun.

If we were to take this poll as a petri dish of the Iowan voter, we have to admit that Iowa is split evenly between trying to decide if they like Bernie or Hillary.

And of course Donalds got the majority vote for Republicans, but... Is anyone else totally bewildered as to why the hell Ben "Brainz" Carson is their second best choice?!

Donalds an egomaniac, but Ben is a freaking nutbar.

There are highly scientific polls, with careful attention paid to sample size and demographics.

There are robopolls where computers make the calls and interview those who pick up the phone.

There are those cable TV polls where viewers are asked to "call this number and tell us who you like."

And then there's the Corn Caucus, sponsored by WHO-TV in Des Moines, every presidential election season at the Iowa State Fair.

"Fairgoers line up. Each is handed a single kernel of corn, which he or she deposits into the jar of his or her choice. Then the next person does the same. And so on.

No ID required. No need to prove that this isn't your third time through today."

The article goes on to mention that it's meant to be fun, and get people talking about the election.

Either way, so far, it somewhat resembles reality regarding the race between the democrats. The republicans, not so much.

Lyrics to Iowa Stubborn
Townspeople:
Oh, there's nothing halfway
About the Iowa way to treat you,
When we treat you
Which we may not do at all.
There's an Iowa kind of special
Chip-on-the-shoulder attitude.
We've never been without.
That we recall.
We can be cold
As our falling thermometers in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We could stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But what the heck, you're welcome,
Join us at the picnic.
You can eat your fill
Of all the food you bring yourself.
You really ought to give Iowa a try.
Provided you are contrary,
We can be cold
As our falling thermometer in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We can stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But we'll give you our shirt
And a back to go with it
If your crops should happen to die.

of corn in at once? Because those jars don't accept cash, checks or money orders. Or does she have a bus bringing in her unpaid interns from Brooklyn to vote? She's had all day to take action.

Seriously, the Clintons totally hate to lose. If the vote count changes by a large amount in her favor, and very quickly, I shall have my suspicions.

I know this is an unscientific method of measuring voter support. But still, a very interesting and timely measure indicating the upward direction of increased Sanders support in Iowa. In days to come, following Bernie's victories in New Hampshire and Iowa, we can look back to this State Fair poll and observe this was a harbinger of the sea change in HRC's prospects, and not in a good way for her.
