Des Moines Bernie Sanders may not leave Iowa as popular as the pork chop on a stick or fried PBJ but the Democratic candidate rolled into the Iowa State Fair to a crowd that wrapped around to the back of the soapbox stage to hear him speak on Saturday afternoon.
"I believe that if we all when it comes to Election Day realize Bernie can win and we don't give up and say, 'Oh, he has no chance,' then we can do this," said Zach Murrell, 21, a senior mechanical engineering student at Iowa State University.

Ok the video was blocked by Firefox but there's another photo of the crowd. Scroll down.

(62,325 posts)not only that crowd, but the crowds that followed him from one place to another, where he willingly answered every question and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself, despite the heat, and that he had not eaten. He couldn't get away they were so enthusiastic.
Lots of media following him also. Though when I watched MSM coverage earlier, I though he wasn't even there! Thank the gods for the New Media or I would still be thinking he wasn't there.
winter is coming
(11,785 posts)I don't have it verbatim, but it was basically: There are a lot of candidates visiting the Iowa State Fair this weekend. Two GOP candidates (Carson and Pataki) will be there today. Trump and Clinton were there yesterday, and both skipped the Soap Box (a tradition) and opted to walk around the fair instead, blah blah. Hillary posed with the iconic Butter Cow.
Just as I thought the other Dem candidates wouldn't even be mentioned, the announcer said that three other Dems had also been at the fair and that Bernie Sanders, Democratic senator from Vermont was there, and mocked Trump's helicopter, saying that he'd left his at home. That was it. No mention of crowds and O'Malley and Chafee weren't named at all
So, Bernie's reached the point where they can't get away with not saying his name at all, but they tag it on to the tail of the story as an afterthought. OTOH, he wasn't described as a socialist. Apparently, he's reached the point where they realize the dissonance would be too great if they didn't mention him.

(1,024 posts)in the morning. I noticed that occuring in wide scale about 5yrs. ago to any of the big corporate sites that may accidently have any progressive active content (in this case video) that they 'show' to provide.
I don't even know why the bother providing the source anyway. what are they trying to prove? Just about everybody now is aware of the 'fair and balanced' way Big Media Loves to direct their audience's attention to. I stopped going to MSNBC's video section 2yrs ago when access to the old index html disappeared and all that was left was the unmanageable new one. Comedy channel's site was the same way.
I haven't had TV for about 15yrs now and have used the internet only for access to entertainment & news thank Gawd. And learned really quickly that these big media websites were the last resort jokes to ever visit.

(4,879 posts)I want to know where the candidates are on the issues that matter to me, my family and my community.
Bernie Sanders is clear on these issues.
While I'm glad MSM can no longer ignore him, I was hoping for the non-televised revolution.

The campaign is getting covered by the MSM to a decent degree now. People are learning about Senator Sanders policies, record, and history, and are enthusiastically supporting his campaign.
Edit: lol, misspelled Sanders name.

People do jump onto wagons that seem to be going places.
Talk by msm of Clinton's numbers falling is going to feed the fall in numbers.
It's gonna be an interesting run into Sept.
