When the sardonic claim is made that no American would support a socialst Jew (nudge nudge, wink wink), it's preposterous to pretend that it's not an allusion to Jesus.
Obviously Sanders himself would never support such a comparison, but the meme is popular enough that one wonders who the joke is intended to amuse.
