The Vermont senator’s campaign rally Sunday evening was at the Greensboro Coliseum’s special events center, which can seat 5,000 people. The venue was full and there was standing-room only.

After speaking to that group, Sanders went to a nearby room and spoke to hundreds of other would-be voters, reported WNCN’s Michael Hyland.

In all, officials with Sanders said that 9,129 people showed up to see Sanders on Sunday evening

Sanders wrapped up a weekend campaign swing through the South Sunday night by speaking to more than 9,000 in a raucous meeting hall and an overflow crowd near the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

painful death.

But that doesn't explain why Bernie's crowds are larger than any other candidate's. They all have access to Social Media. See here eg. And when you think that Bernie still doesn't have close to the name recognition of Hillary, how come she can't draw these kind of crowds?

I think it's because most of the other candidates' supporters are not that enthusiastic about their candidate.

It's 14 months to the election, crowds like this are pretty unusual at this stage of the game.

they might have saved themselves. We know what the boardrooms look like. We understand thinking outside the box is discouraged.

I suspect very few suggested, "Why don't we go back to simply reporting the news, with no preconceptions and no agenda." Anyone that suggested such a thing would be thoroughly castigated.

They got in the habit of misinforming the public during Whitewater, the 2000 election, 9/11, Iraq, the 2008 economic collapse and the 2008 election.

It's a hard habit to break.

Yes, all campaigns have access to social media, but it seems that Bernie supporters are really using it to the full potential, and the people that are showing up are obviously tuned in to it as well. The OP was updated, so now the last pic shows a meme stating that 9100 showed up with 5 days notice. That type of turnout isn't done with signs and advertisements.

Social Media in the first place. I'm sure all the other candidates have supporters who COULD use it as effectively, so why don't they?

Bernie we knew, would get very little help from the Corporate Media, while the Establishment candidates would be covered ad nauseum. See Trump eg.

So it took a lot of enthusiasm and determination and a willingness to spend the time, and for many to donate their expertise and skills, to use Social Media to the extent that Bernie's supporters are doing.

It also shows how the Corp media has lost much of its power to influence people.

Still, if eg, the Corp media were to treat Bernie Sanders the way they treat Trump, his NC rallies over the weekend would be all over the MSM.

I checked just to see if there was any mention of them. I saw nothing!

If Trump had drawn a crowd of 200 it would have been repeated over and over again.

So yes, Social Media is partly responsible for Bernie's success so far, but ONLY because his supporters once they learn about him, are so inspired by his message that they are willing to spend the time to USE it on his behalf.

I love the picture of him with his arm around Jane. She usually stays in the background, but she is there for him and gives him the personal support we all crave and need from our significant other - those of us fortunate enough to have a significant other.
