Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI probably shouldn't post this, because I find the idea that Bernie has some sort of real serious
problem with POC to be patently ridiculous, and I realize one picture is not sufficient evidence to prove my point, but these ladies seem to be feeling the Bern. I'm thinking that canard the other candidate's supporters keep trotting out isn't quite so accurate after all.

(8,352 posts)I have met many latinos and blacks in Arizona who support and are active in promoting Sanders in the primary.
I am sure others across the nation and in each state can and will be sharing similar stories.

Sorry .... and thanks.

(56,582 posts)It's been coming into more favor as an initialism to avoid having to type out "African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, and Asians". Kind of like LGBTQ or QUILTBAG.

(6,679 posts)I'm acronym impaired but I do know the old school DU stuff thanks to my late sister and DUer.
"Robb is a dingbat"
"stickily lies"
"moran"
"!!!!!!!!!!! 111 !!!!!"

(16,846 posts)Everybody is getting a chance to see Bernie for themselves and make up their own minds. He's putting himself out there for everyone to speak to and he's talking about real issues. I have enough faith in people to know that Bernie will have broad support across all categories. We'll just have to see if enough people of every type are persuaded. If some people are willing to stir up fake controversies in order to try to gin up support for their candidate, that's their problem.

(22,308 posts)Eventually that meme will be proven false and it will then appear that he has gained more ground (even though that ground has already been won).
That attack is a desperate attempt to slow his momentum in the short term with no thought whatsoever about the long term effect it will have.
He needs to improve his numbers in North Carolina, but once that happens this meme will work to his/our advantage.

(36,063 posts)For the better part of a decade DUers have characterized the rw wing racists as old white guys.
When Sanders came along, the stereotype and acceptance of it was firmly in place. All people need do is guide Bernie's image into the pigeon hole.
It was very easy, everyone likes easy and we all like confirmation of our biases.

(9,497 posts)the meme of tension between Blacks and Jews.
HereSince1628
(36,063 posts)I could say that was or wasn't a source of its origin
What seems to be the case is it "works" which is to say, people buy into it mostly because it fits existing stereotypical beliefs.

It's happening with all groups of people, white, black, whatever... as his exposure grows so does his popularity. Period.
