One of the earlier objections and most frequent

has been that Bernie could not win in the general election, so I need to back HRC. Well....

That is simply not true, and I am putting this here to use as a reference any time you hear that from someone.

If HRC is the nominee, there will be a Republican President.
but
When Bernie is the nominee, there will be a Democratic Socialist President...oh and bonus DWS will be out.

Hillary's supporters simply do not understand the degree to which she is hated outside the Democratic Party. They accuse anyone here who does not support her as being a hater, which is childish and false. Many of us here clearly understand what a disaster of a candidate she would be, and how incredibly unlikely she is to win the general election.

If she's the candidate, people who have not voted in years would crawl out from under rocks to vote against her, and meanwhile a lot of Democrats who would normally vote for the Democratic candidate will be so discouraged by the prospect of a President Hillary Clinton, that more of them than usual would stay home.

Bernie real can win the general election. Anyone who doesn't think so should take a good look at 2007, when that nice Black man with the funny name was running, but who obviously stood no chance whatsoever of winning the general election. Remember him?

I've also been repeating the facts... I have not met a SINGLE person who would vote for Hillary but not Bernie in the general. A lot of people, including not very political ones, dislike Hillary whether rightly or wrongly. And a lot of people, even right-wingers, and definitely the not very political ones, like Bernie's honesty and standing up to corporate interests. Sure there are people who would vote for neither, but again, not a SINGLE one (except a few Hillary-groupers here on DU) who would vote for Hillary but not Bernie.

But when you have a fan club going (or are a corporatist yourself), none of that matters.

... Democrats have nothing to get excited about. That means a Republican win.

If you can't see it, you have blinders on.

Still, Sanders is the best GE candidate because he is mobilizing the alienated 63%, and because he can appeal to more Republicans.
