Just had long talk with conservative

At a bar. We each only had one drink.

Long talk about all kinds of stuff. He was for Trump and I Bernie. He is white my age 59 and not married. I say this because I told him I can't imagine any women wanting to vote for him.

At the end after a lot of back and forth about everything from war to Mexicans he said if it's Hillary and Trump he will vote for Trump. If it's Hillary and Bernie he will vote for Bernie.

Why? Because he is old time conservative not far right wing. He admires Bernie but thinks he won't be the one to win primary.

Reason I am posting this is because people say conservatives like Bernie but no one believes it. After tonight I do. And believe me he is conservative!!

He has lived in the south and is just moving to Oregon coast but travels for work which he says he does contracts with military and government.

I found conversation interesting.

I have had similar 1 to 1 conversations with the same kind of outcome, folks seem embarrassed to step outside of the party line, but Bernie's integrity shines through.

Between Trump and Berne he will vote for Bernie even though he is for Trump now.

I think it has to do with healthcare. He said he didn't have any for a year.

Took the dog out this afternoon and passed by a gal that is new to the neighborhood.

She said, I love your Bernie hat! I said, Oh do you happen to support Bernie? She said, Absolutely!

I'll have to try and catch her for additional conversation.

And they hate Hillary. Probably worse than Obama. If Bernie wins the primary, he WILL go all the way.

Why would he be willing to vote for Bernie if it's Bernie and Trump, but not for Hillary if it's Hillary and Trump? Seems to me as though there's a major disconnect going on.

Or is he someone who so much dislikes Hillary Clinton, that he won't vote for her no matter who her opponent is, but is willing to vote for some other Democrat?

If that's the case, it shows exactly why Hillary is not electable in the General Election.

voters will crawl out of the woodworks to vote against her. The Hillary camp simply does not understand how widely hated she is out there. Heck, within the Democratic Party itself something like 60% of voters, including those who say they'd vote for her, don't trust her. Truly scary.

Blackberry and Nokia were Goliaths, who chose not to take seriously the insurgent Apple. Until it was too late.

The Hillary camp will chant "electable!" and gloat over how she does in Dem (baby boomers who participate in) polls. But show them other types of polls, where Bernie does better against a repub than she? Clearly those are flawed.

I have plenty of relatives who fantasize, if not outright believe, that she'll be in prison in a year from now.

and he volunteered that he couldn't vote for Hillary but if if Bernie was the nominee he would vote for him rather than any of the nut cases the Republicans are running. He is in his 60's and his family have always been Republican and he has always voted Republican.

15. Repubs are all about false equivalency

Their radio hosts make fortunes on it.

Bush lied about Iraq? Not really, but Bill Clinton sure lied about Monica Lewinski. And Elizabeth Warren lied about being Native American. And here's a story about a school superintendent that lied about what he ate for lunch. Etc, etc, etc.

The score: Conservatives: -1 Liberals: -3

The thing about Bernie is that they can't really do that. He doesn't have a mole hill in his conduct or character for them to try to build into a mountain.

Hillary supporters can't stand that we can go on about her all day, but they don't have anything on him (beyond the fact that he doesn't get to start from second base). All they can do is to reverse it by going after us for being such meanies and attacking Hillary.

Of course the repubs will go after the "Socialist!" bit. But that's automatic. They've been doing that since at least Clinton. It's getting a little tired, even if it's finally gotten closer to actually being accurate than for the last 24 years. But even there, he does not scare them more than she does.
