Sen. Bernie Sanders took to the Senate floor and shattered the Mitch McConnells Obamacare repeal delusion by dropping a fact bomb on the GOP.
On the Senate floor, Sen. Sanders said:
I think everybody here in the Senate understands this, the bill we are debating today is a complete waste of time. This is just another reason why the American people have so little respect for the Congress.
There are major crises facing our country and the Republican leadership once again is attempting to repeal Obamacare. I kind of lost track about how many times this effort has been made. I think in the House it was over fifty. I dont know how many it is here in the Senate.
So let me break the news to my Republican colleagues, although I am sure that they already got the news. And that is Obama is not going to sign a bill repealing Obamacare. I think that is not likely to happen, and what we are doing today is just a waste of time.

(2,900 posts)Hillary was beaten by a first term Senator last time in the primaries. If you think you are going to fail at something, you probably are.
By the way, I voted for Hillary in 08 and will again in 16. And I like Sanders. But you guys need to pick your chins off the floor and get busy campaigning the way Sen. Sanders would like you to campaign. You get him the nomination, and I'll work harder for him than I would for Hillary. But stop your bellyaching. Put on a smile and make calls, walk precincts, register voters and get out the vote. Wishing will get you nothing.

(841 posts)Working FULLTIME as a U.S. Senator while simultaneously traveling everywhere to talk to the people in leading a Presidential campaign. This man at the age of 74 does more real work in a DAY than Hillary Clinton does in a MONTH. And it is all for the poor and the middle class. Wake up, people!

(15,435 posts)that our very own Democratic Party DOES NOT want this man elected??? I know I'm working very, very hard for this man and doing what I can to help him as best I can.
I just attended a meeting today that's being organized called The Democratic PROGRESSIVE Caucus that's already filed papers, formed By-Laws and elected officers and directors at the state level. The meeting was to organize local counties around our state in the same way they did. We elected officers, directors and accepted the By-Laws that will be filed at the state level. This is NOT the state Democratic Party, it's a "grassroots" project to move our Party BACK to what it once was.
Every single person at the meeting was a Bernie supporter! What does that say to anyone here?? Our state Party Chairman already pledged her support for Hillary and I'm not even sure that's legal! I should have asked that question but didn't. I keep running into people who support him, but so many say "but he CAN'T win!" It sickens me.
Anyway, to be a member of this PROGRESSIVE Caucus we were required to pledge to vote for the Democratic nominee regardless. Still, this organization is in it's infancy and with the help of people like me and so many others, in time WE intend to be heard!
Bernie Sanders will be remembered for a very, very long time as THE MAN who tells the truth and has always believed what he's proposing now. WHY do our Democrats NOT understand this country is in decline and WHY don't they WANT to stop it?? Yeah, MONEY AND GREED!
And guess who's going to lose in the end? I keep saying WAKE UP, but TPTB simply choose NOT to listen. What will become of this country when it goes the way of Rome????
senz
(11,945 posts)I hope you can find a way to bring up the Party chair's support for Hillary. It would be interesting to know what the caucus members think about it.

(39,215 posts)be doing that in all states and connecting each state to the others. We have a Minnesota For Bernie internet site but I have not found a place that actually keeps us informed on what they are doing. I go into that site and ask a question - useless and so far no one has contacted me.
I have a bulletin board in front of me and on it is a sign: "Change only happens when you organize." It is an Obama sign but it is still true. Let us get more organized for Bernie.

(4,973 posts)Not too long after he says "now i think any sensible person would ask an obvious question: What happens to people who lose their health insurance?"
To which I say..
There's the problem. This country has elected a bunch of nonsense moronic republicans, so there aren't enough sensible people.

(930 posts)and yet, they garner millions of votes, repeatedly.
I recall the previous "vice president" being interviewed by Martha Raddatz on ABC-TV national news.
This was on the day that the 4,000th U.S. solider had died in service in Iraq/Afghanistan.
Raddatz asked him to comment. He looked at her for a second, and then asked "So?"

(2,741 posts)electing Bernie is not only the right thing to do...it is the only thing to do to save what is left of America...even save it for the people who take no interest...you know, the ones who do not know the names of either of their senators, the name of their governor, what political party controls their state, or such small things as the name of the vice-president...

(39,215 posts)because TPTB in both parties are out of touch. As one post yesterday said they are still back in 1984. That leaves a lot of really smart people saying that they have no one to vote for. But this time we have Bernie - what he is saying is the answer for those of us left behind by the DLC and the tea party. Bernie is talking about an America we are losing and need to retrieve.

...not to mention so white, and male, and old! And Vermont-y! ... or so I gather from reading many DU threads.
And there he goes again, advocating Medicare for All, supporting Planned Parenthood, and calling out the Republicans for their staunch support of the welfare of 20 grotesquely wealthy individuals at the expense of 150 million others... Sanders is so out of touch! So tone deaf! So ignorant of the day-to-day experience of people of color!!
Or so we've been told, a few thousand times lately.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, this is a great speech by Sen. Sanders. In measured and direct statements, he completely eviscerates the Republicans' idiotic and cruel agenda.
Bravo!
