Just finished watching The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann. He was discussing Donald Trump (of course)
with Mike Papantonio. In the end Thom said to Mike "So if he's the Republican nominee is he
president?" Mike answers "yes, because he'll beat Hillary Clinton." He added "I still think Bernie Sanders can
beat him. But he'll beat Hillary Clinton,.. absolutely". Thom answered "I think your analysis is right."
I find that prospect frightening!

It's not that hard to do opposition research on Hillary--she's been tremendously indiscreet.
Unlike the Donald, though, she's not going to get a free pass from the public.

They'll set a record as the most unfavorable pair of presidential candidates in US history - hands down!

(4,169 posts)Clinton is not my first choice for the democratic candidate, but I could personally accept her as the choice if she beats out the other candidates. She's driven, competent, and very experienced. On the international stage, she would make an excellent representative of our country.
On the domestic side, however, she is such a divisive figure due to the hard-on of hate from the Republicans (and some Democrats, too, for that matter). Whether or not it's her "fault", the end result is that there will be a tremendous drive to vote against her. Some democratic factions may be equally enthusiastic about supporting her, but I'm not sure the numbers will balance out.
Even if she wins, I can't but wonder how far she'll be stopped by Republican opposition. Although, to be honest, I'm not sure any Democrat could get things done because of the complete, irrational intransigency of the Republicans. The best we can hope may be just NOT doing what the Republicans want and stalling all legislative actions.
One strong advantage that Sanders has over Clinton is that he is largely unknown. He doesn't have to overcome 30 years of Republican venom. He's an old white guy, so he presents fewer targets for knee-jerk bigotry, and I'm not sure the Republicans really want to double-down on him being Jewish. It's not a hot-button issue for them compared to race or gender or sexual orientation.
I think he's the more electable candidate compared to Clinton.

(2,968 posts)Hillary does not. I think with Bernie comes a sweep. Absolutely!
I think with Bernie next November, Democratic Party gets a "yooge"
win. I wish those dummies (DNC) would realize that fact. He has the enthusiasm.
People will come out to vote for him. Hillary...not so much.
