We'r not terribly optimistic about our odds, down here at the millennial level. It's a history of missed opportunity and averted decisions.
Thirty years ago, serious steps could have been taken. Twenty years ago, even. Ten years ago would have been too late, but could have lessened the impact. But now what, we're all talking about "By 2050"?
we could cut fossil fuels globally, cold turkey, right now, 100% and our best hope is that civilization survives what's already written for our future. But no, we're talking about knocking things down to some level thirty-five years from now. All the people promising 2050 will be long-dead by 2050, which is no surprise. This is even with the insane assumption that their political successors won't just kick the goal back to 2075 or 2100.
Right now the only way we can do it is by kicking and screaming as hard as we can to take down the people and comoanies killing us all for a profit, and hteir enablers, to shut it all down absolutely as soon as possible. We're still fucked, but maybe we could make ourselves LESS fucked.
I don't think sanders can do it. I don't think any US president can do it. I don't know what it'll take.
