A Huffington Post-Morning Consult poll of 2047 registered voters shows both Donald Trump and Ben Carson beating Clinton 45 to 40 percent. The poll has a margin of error of only plus or minus two percent.
Who can beat Republicans? Apparently, not Hillary!
Here's a link to the poll:

Looks like a better poll than the ones the Hillarians treat us to over in GD-P. The margin of error is only 2.0, but they won't like it because it's an Internet poll and not a landline poll (not a click poll, mind you, but not concentrated on 60 year olds with home phones who like talking to polling companies - for the record, I'm not 60, but I have a landline. I keep it for my daughter who isn't old enough for a cell, yet).
On edit: This is from earlier this month, but I never saw a word about it.

can't win with just white voters and Hillary has a diverse base.
BTW I'll vote for the nominee.

(11,366 posts)She's got an enthusiasm problem.
But, if she's the nominee, to borrow a phrase from another DUer, "the Republicans will crawl naked over glass to vote against her."

(62,325 posts)why she is losing to the Repub front runners while Bernie consistently beats them.

(62,325 posts)All the efforts to prevent people from voting for Bernie, in NY eg, shameful dirty tricks, while Hillary despite all that 'help' from Corp America, continues to trend down.
Bernie Sanders is what this country needs to turn around the corporate coup of both parties and any Dem who cares about issues like Welfare, forever war, corruption on Wall St, is on board for the only candidate in this race who truly represents STATED Dem Party ideals. Any Dem who is 'iffy' about the New Deal programs, is not a Dem, they are a DINO.

(23,664 posts)Nevertheless, this one should make some people think twice before they schedule a coronation.
I only post because we're so inundated with how inevitable certain female candidates are over on GD-P.
I think polling is way off and that enthusiasm is more of a leading indicator than polling.

(5,141 posts)Although I know its comforting for them to think the reluctance to vote for her from the Democratic party is just here on DU (it isnt) if there is this much opposition from the Dems, do they think the independents are going to come out in droves for her? They seem to be overlooking that inconvenient piece of reality.
Shes got a lot baggage that cant be overcome simply by seeming to evolve, and a lot of people are going to blame her and DWS for the demise of the party after all is said and done.
jeff47
(26,549 posts)the parties each hold roughly 50% of the electorate, so independents are not so critical.
They don't seem to get that if every single Democrat voted for Clinton, it's only 30% of the vote.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)40% of registered voters, showing the deep disgust voters now have for both parties.
Bernie knew this when he decided to run. He wasn't specifically going after the Dem base, but rather this alienated demographic, AND the other potential HUGE demographic, non voters.
In both areas he has been successful, including getting about one third so far, of the smaller Dem base demographic.
Polls are not gauging his real support because they can't, not with their old methodologies.
But when they do a national non-partisan poll, Bernie beats the Repub front runners, Hillary does also, but by a lot less.
Now she's beginning to lose to the Repub Front runners. A very bad sign as far as the GE.

(7,968 posts)particularly Carson... I'm not really worried. Should it come down to it I believe enough people will see the obvious difference between Hillary and Trump to realize what the right thing to do is. My guess is it has more to do with the novelty of the situation. When and if Trump becomes the Repuk nominee he will be more exposed to the light for all to see.
For the record, I'm a Bernie supporter and I do believe that he would do well and perhaps better than H. in the general. Nevertheless, this is not why I'm voting for Bernie. (To say the least!)
jeff47
(26,549 posts)And Clinton is the definition of the status quo.
If the choice is Trump/Carson vs Clinton, every Republican and every Republican-leaning independent will vote against Clinton. They hate her that much.
Meanwhile the majority Democrats will vote for Clinton, but Democrats are only 30% of the electorate. Turnout will suffer a little among registered Democrats. Turnout among Democratic-leaning independents will be terrible, with them basically saying "a pox on both your houses!" due to the rage against the status quo.
That combination makes it quite winnable for Trump or Carson.
The scary part is team Clinton shows absolutely zero understanding that this possibility exists, much less have any sort of plan to deal with it. And with someone who is already so well-known, there is very little Team Clinton can do about it.
What you suggest is my nightmare scenario. If one of these clowns is actually elected we and the rest of the world are in deep trouble!

(24,411 posts)Hillary not doing well against Republicans and Sanders besting her against those Republicans.
Plenty of polls that show her failing abysmally at garnering Independent votes.
Roll all of that together with her high negatives and you've got yourself a big fail burrito.

(11,366 posts)I'd never heard of it, but a Bernie supporter I follow on Twitter was discussing it.
However, that doesn't negate the poll that I also linked to. That was done by HuffPo/Morning Consult. I don't think HuffPo is right-wing.
I can edit the OP to show the poll and leave out the commentary.

(11,366 posts)The poll, itself, was legitimate.
I'd never heard of the source until Scoot told me above, so I didn't realize it was from a right-wing rag (which tells you I don't read right-wing rags. LOL).

(13,570 posts)Rat Head and Doctor Nut Job would NEVER, EVER, EVER beat Hillary Clinton in a general elections. This means NOTHING at this point in time. Absolutely NOTHING. Enough of this STUPID shit. Also, it is just one poll and could be full of flaws. Other polls have Hillary winning. So enough. It's STUPIDITY.
