President Bernie Sanders? New poll tips Sanders to defeat Clinton and prevail over Trump..

Will Bernie Sanders be America’s next President? A new poll appears to suggest so...

A national poll carried out by Quinnipiac University predicts that not only will Bernie Sanders be well-placed to defeat Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination come June, but will beat Donald Trump by a landslide to become America’s next President in November, 2016. A report published in The Hill showed that Sanders will defeat the Republican candidate in a general election by 13 percentage points, with the former leading with 51 percent to Trump’s 38 percent.

If this indeed turns out to be the margin that Bernie Sanders wins by, Democrats would almost certainly regain control of the United States Senate and very possibly the House of Representatives.

Moreover, the Quinnipiac University poll also appeared to give Republicans no chance of setting their eyes on the White House, predicting that even Hillary Clinton would defeat Trump by a landslide margin — by 7 percentage points, to be exact — while Bernie Sanders will unequivocally defeat Trump in what would definitely be a victory of epic proportions for Sanders, if and when that comes to fruition.

According to the poll, 51 percent of registered voters have an unfavorable view of Clinton, while Bernie Sanders has a positive net favorability of 9 points.

The report went on to suggest that America’s major news networks — including CNN — have been prejudiced against Bernie Sanders, alleging that the mainstream media has had field days with virtual news blackouts of the Sanders campaign when discussing presidential campaign polling. And while that might be up for debate, it is something Sanders has already cast his eyes on, once remarking in an interview on how ABC Evening News had only given his campaign a meager 20 seconds of airtime compared to Donald Trump’s 81 minutes.

Or O'Malley is the next president, but there is about zero chance that Dems retake the House. That is fantasyland.

Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, it would be the most striking exercise in contrasts.

It would be more than fair to say that I'd favor the Vermont Senator in that matchup.

#1. i cannot find this poll on the quinnipiac website, tho have looked at both the link provided here, and the hill. i contacted brent budowski who posted the article on the hill website asking for a link to the poll itself. sure hope this is not a fluke; budowski is no slouch, so he may have inside/early data. will post here if i hear back (but, you know, saturday night....)

#2. those who doubt the house can be retaken, never forget this: if bernie is the nominee, the enthusiasm for his election will rival - if not surpass - that of obama 8 yrs ago. the senate will be a given; the house will at least be more equivalent, and possibly taken.

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE ENTHUSIASM FACTOR.

From that article:

"Half of American voters say they'd be embarrassed to have Donald Trump as their Commander in Chief and most Americans think he doesn't have a good chance in November, but there he is still at the top of the Republican heap," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. "Hillary Clinton tops him. Sen. Bernie Sanders hammers him and Sen. Ted Cruz is snapping at his heels. Can a candidate that half the American electorate thinks is an embarrassment win in November?"

American voters back Clinton over Trump 47 - 40 percent. In other matchups:

Clinton gets 44 percent to Rubio's 43 percent;
Clinton and Cruz are tied 44 - 44 percent.

Sanders tops Trump 51 - 38 percent. In other matchups:

Rubio gets 45 percent to Sanders' 42 percent;
Cruz gets 44 percent to Sanders' 43 percent.

Clinton has a negative 43 - 51 percent favorability rating. Other favorability ratings are:

Negative 33 - 59 percent for Trump;
40 - 31 percent for Sanders;
37 - 28 percent for Rubio;
35 - 33 percent for Cruz.

He'll poll well, until he leads and gets all the attention, then Cruz will be Cruz and say something Cruzy, and the few sane folks will sputter "WTF did he just say?"

as long as the frightened ignorant corporate news conditioned army comes out, and the apathetic, lazy, someone-else-will-do-it crowd stays home.....yes this can happen.

Nevertheless, Sanders losing to Cruz or Rubio OR Clinton winning over Cruz or Rubio are both very very close, certainly within the margin of error. That means we must double down on voter registration and GOTV.

Amazing - and it only took Quinnipiac six months to figure that out? We were on to the game from early August, if not earlier..
