(36,063 posts)you don't have a problem with your ignore list.
I've decided to use the ignore function as a way to wean myself away from DU. I keep telling myself I'm not getting anything but angst from much of what's posted, but I do like that DUers posting from their localities their picks of news of progressive interest presents me news of interest much much faster than one nation or one local news source could.
That function of DU is imo DU'ers great contribution and DU's great value.
But to the point of ignore lists...when your ignore list gets big enough to cut down on that news flow, DU becomes less and less interesting. So I'd say that too large an ignore list results in loss of information access... which is a problem, if you want that access. To keep access I used to clear my ignore list at the end of every month.
But, when everything thing turns 'bundy' or is candidate supporter bashing and post-mockery that access isn't so interesting anyway... to that end, my ignore list is no longer temporary, it's going to be permanent...and I hope that will overcome my seemingly addictive attraction to this place.

(4,805 posts)I finally broke down this morning and put two more on ignore and trashed their threads and still they show up on the front page as greatest threads. ugh

(36,063 posts)I don't do the Front Page at all. Mostly I don't do the Front Page because it all too frequently includes some painfully sophomoric illustration promoting stigmatizing language about persons with mental disorders.
Maybe I'm making progress with my withdrawl.
