70% of Dem voters in IA, NH and SC say Anita Hill issue has no effect on their support of Biden

New Firehouse Strategies poll of those early primary states. The results showing Biden well ahead of everyone else have been posted in other topics, but I want to focus on this part of the results:

http://firehousestrategies.com/may-2019-survey/

When asked if Biden’s treatment of Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas sexual harassment scandal makes them more likely, less likely, or does not affect their likelihood to support Biden, at least 70% of voters across all three states say it does not affect their views of him.
If I were to vote in a presidential

Supporting Biden this early in the polls doesn't mean black people aren't affected or care about Biden's failure. Wanting to make sure we don't get another four years of Donny is a life and death decision for us. As a voting group, we have been way more pragmatic about who we support. See the '08 election where it took Obama winning Iowa to get the majority of older African American to back him over Clinton.

Especial since SC is a diverse state. This poll is at least just as flawed. Looked at the methodology which didn't take into account the racial make up of the Democratic primary voters unless their modeling included racial makeup of our electorate.

Methodology: Between 04/30-05/02, we surveyed 1,695 likely primary voters in Iowa (N = 576), New Hampshire (N = 551), and South Carolina (N = 568) via live landline and cell, and text. Likely voters were defined as registered voters having voted in the 2016 or 2018 Democratic primaries, plus the 15% of additional individuals most likely to turnout based on in-house turnout modeling. Margin of error varies by question and segment but is generally ± 4.1 in IA, ± 4.0 in NH, and ± 4.5 in SC for toplines. The sample was weighted by age, gender, and party based on our likely voter universe. Results were then re-balanced based on these cohorts.

The likely hood that they happen to get a diverse sampling of voters is unlikely. Special since they only surveyed about 500 plus respondents from each of the three states. My statement most certainly inaccurate, since it's a flawed poll with low sampling.

Which doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to vote for Biden. They selected the response that indicated it does not affect them at all.

Seriously, he mishandled the situation, and he admits at least that much. To say a past failure of a candidate doesn't affect their support says to me they don't care.

I hope all of our candidates get such strong support no matter their bad decisions or mistakes. I suspect they won't, but I've been wrong before.

This poll points to a lot of Democratic voters openly stating it doesn't affect their support. I could happily vote for Biden and have my support of him be negatively affected.

Every one of the candidates running has something that makes me less likely to vote for them. Doesn't mean at least five of them I will vote, donate money and volunteer on their campaigns.

35. Of all the players in the Hill hearings, BIDEN mistreated her!?
Tue May 7, 2019, 12:27 AM
May 2019

This has become a meme with a life of its own. I saw the hearings. Dems were pretty cowed facing Clarence Thomas who would be only the second African-American to become an SC justice. Once he called the proceedings a high tech lynching, the real chill on getting aggressive with him set in.
Republicans Specter, Heflin, Simpson, Grassley were unnecessarily rough and flat out ugly. Dems pulled their punches. Kennedy said very little. Biden at least got in some jabs.
And outside the hearings, Hill was smeared.
Not by Biden.
Biden was not her inquisitor from hell. See Heflin for that (YouTube)
In the end, BIden voted against Thomas. This case was never Biden vs, Hill, but for its deconstruction.
The shame is that Thomas, Grassley, horrible Heflin et al have never been held to account. Some are alive. Not too late to apologize.
We really need to vet people for the highest offices at least as thoroughly as FBI, Federal Marshall candidates, potential police officers. Polygraph.Real background investigation. Psychiatric testing and interview. And alleged victims should not have to face the accused or a bunch of senators in open, aired hearings. Let any non-criminal(if the complaint can not be charged) sex abuse, assault, harassment allegations be heard by those trained in sex offenses. They can be reviewed as a part of the character report, and without the “trial.”
Biden is right about the failure of the process. Other than that, he has apologized for more than his part should have warranted.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
