Days after Alabama passed a law to ban almost all abortions in the state, Sen. Elizabeth Warren unveiled a blueprint for fighting back.
In a Medium post published Friday morning, the 2020 presidential contender declared that she wants to pass federal laws that would block states from interfering with providers ability to offer abortion services and patients access those services. She also wants to ensure that federal programs like Medicaid and private insurance are required to cover abortion.
This is a dark moment, wrote Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat. People are scared and angry. And they are right to be. But this isnt a moment to back down its time to fight back.
Alabamas law, which is not yet in effect, outlaws all abortion, save for when a pregnancy poses a serious health risk to the mother. There would be no exceptions for rape and incest, and doctors who perform abortions could face 99 years in prison.

the only way this ends well is by electing Democrats and taking the courts back realistically. At this moment Robert's is our only hope. This is why I don't support Warren although I like her ...a long list of policy that I just don't see happening,

(2,275 posts)You bring the country together, and increase the total number of votes for Democrats, around inherently good ideas.
You don't create a haze of half measures. You inspire a movement that INCREASES turnout.

I heard it would look weird to lose the nomination and then run for Senate. But, is it even possible for some of them to switch back to running for Senate? Depends in deadline of each state?

(No slight to other candidates - right now EAW is the most demonstratively presidential so far.)
